In the early 70's when I first moved south a former Fla Highway Patrolman I was doing work for drove me around to show me trees where over his career he had cut down lynched "Negroes"

The right of way went right through a black neighborhood, and down the middle of several homes. And only payed half the value of the homes. It's difficult to imagine humans treating other humans that way.

Times were a bit different in the south in the 70's. Now I don't agree with it and if I were lucky enough to have a daughter I would never want her dating someone that much older than her when she was a teenager. However, to act like time period context doesn't matter is a bit off IMO.

You must not be paying attention then because people with no conscience are all over the place. Cops literally rob people at gun point. Many small towns will pull you over and if you have 100$ or more in your possession they seize your money and car. Judges rule that fathers with no biological connection to a child are financially responsible.
