I check out because Butch isn't nor will ever be good enough to take Top 5 classes anywhere worth going, but then the talent keeps games close enough to pull me back in. Sucks.
I think Vol fans had some unrealistic expectations coming into the season. Our OL is still bad (though improving) and if we had a competent kicker, we'd have at least an extra 2 wins. Butch has made some questionable calls along the way as well, but this is still an incredibly young team.
Our offensive system is remedial. Our defense only looks competently run in comparison. I don't think meaningful changes will ever be made in either area. Pretty sure we're capping out at moral victories against grade C efforts from off-cycle powers.
I didn't like the Debord hire and still don't. But Dobbs does seems to struggle on throws over 20 yards anyways.
It goes beyond that. The read option **** with Worley. Giving the defense a couple second head start on Hurd. We don't tailor to our strengths at all. Maybe we can eventually have all perfect fits, if that's even possible, but that's pretty much what it will take to make this offense work. Wasting a lot of talent in the interim.
Need this bye week coming up for MSU. 8-0, but a rash of injuries just won't go away. Down 6 players in the secondary and the offensive line continues to get hurt. Need to rest and get healthy.
Not that it matters, but Alabama won ugly today. When MSU doesn't win by a big margin they drop in the polls, but knowing how smart the voters are, Alabama passes MSU. Like I said it doesn't matter, but it's frustrating because the Spartans are constantly getting disrespected.
