Trump is a dignity vampire. Proximity to him diminishes the people in his orbit, commensurate with their duty/willingness to paper over his lack of judgement, decency, and discipline.
Sen Corker:
“The White House has got to do something soon to bring itself under control and in order. It’s got to happen,” Corker said on Capitol Hill.
“Obviously, they’re in a downward spiral right now, and they’ve got to figure out a way to come to grips [with] all that’s happening,” he added.

I am talking about the supposed classified 'leaks', not meeting with the Russians in general.
The only people who care about Trump meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister (and Russian Ambassador) are a vocal minority of the electorate. And they're working with a presumption of guilt and a set of hobbled together 'facts'.
Hopefully Trump continues to make good on his campaign promise to improve relations with Russia. We're losing strategic allies left and right these days - would be nice to have a couple left.
The "classified leaks" revealed yesterday weren't leaks but a heads up from a foreign intel organization.
The story before being published in WaPo was vetted through the intel community for not only verification but what information can and can't be published
That report was subject of a Maddow interview with Greg Jaffee who tells the story of who he got the info from, what info he received, where the event happened and when by recreating the timeline.
The article, if you ever read it, leaks no pertinent info outside of this happened in this meeting.
Trump himself gave the details to the Russians.
Unbeknownst to the intel community
Also she interviewed a CIA something or other that gave context, Bush had Putin to a daily briefing in Crawford, Tex with the blessing of the intel community.
In that they went to intel and asked if this could happen. Once given permission from intel they worked together on talking points of the meeting
For someone that has such pointed opinions, your information / knowledge of events is shaky to say the least

Erick Erickson's justification for the leaks, apparently with direct knowledge of one of the leakers.
Maybe. And it certainly would've been fair turnabout given how Tillerson was treated by Putin a few months ago in Moscow.
That being said, the scenario you advocate (backed by the poorly substantiated reasoning you predicate it upon) is a prototypical example of petty and likely regressive diplomacy. And perhaps that's the design.
Historically Russia has never been an ally of anyone except, Russia.
Are you relying on Putin to turn into Nelson Mandela ?
Who since 1990 has used Russia as a cheap political enemy outside of Sarah Palin ?

The only surprising thing Trump has done as president is he hasn't literally stepped on a rake while golfing.
