From DOB's blog:
From what I was told, the Braves’ 2015 payroll was a particular difficulty when it came to fitting in Hudson. The Braves have 14 arbitration-eligible players this year and will keep most of them at significantly higher salaries in 2014, then give big salary bumps again for a lot of them again in 2015, either through arbitration or in possible long-term extensions for some young standouts.
This is an interesting point. After 2015, we have a ton of flexibility/options. Uggla's contract expires after 2015. Heyward, Justin Upton, Medlen and Venters will also hit free agency barring contract extensions.
The question that comes up then is if the second year was the issue with bringing back Hudson, wouldn't it also be an issue for a player like Lohse who has two years left on his contract.
Man, if Freddie, Jason, and Justin all leave in 2015 and we don't produce guys to replace them, which starts 1-3 years ago, we will be in trouble.
We NEED to extend 2 of them.
Capuano is someone I would consider on a one-year deal.
Tim Hudson letter in the AJC“When I was traded from the Oakland A’s to the Atlanta Braves before the 2005 season, a childhood dream was realized. I grew up a Braves fan just a few hours south of Atlanta, and it was hard for me to believe that I was going to actually play for the Atlanta Braves and legendary manager Bobby Cox. My family was young. We had a toddler (Kennedie), a baby (Tess), and a baby on the way (Kade). We were welcomed into the Braves organization with open arms. Our son was born two weeks into my first season, and our journey began. The Atlanta Braves are really all that our children know about this crazy baseball life, and we are so thankful for this upbringing for them.”
“And to the city of Atlanta and the amazing fans in all of Braves country…my deepest thanks. Braves fans are one-of-a-kind. Your passion to win comes close to equaling that of the players that go out on the field each and every game. But when the team goes through rough patches, you’re there to encourage and cheer and believe that things will turn around. In my 9 seasons, we definitely had some very high moments and some extremely disappointing moments. But one thing that I learned is this – once a Braves fan, always a Braves fan. No matter what. And as a player, that means more than you could understand.”

Tim's a classy guy. He'll do well in San Fran.
Did anyone see chippers tweet? it seems huddy was behind the boycott on chipper.
Yeah, it's kinda crazy. Chipper seriously needs to let it go, though I guess seeing Hudson bolt to the Giants enticed him to get a cheap shot in.
Wonder what he's got to say about Mac. He was in on it too.
EDIT: I should say multiple cheap shots. There's another tweet wishing Kim all the best in San Fran, but not mentioning Tim.

On one hand Chipper spoke his mind and was right. I'd have had him publicly support the Braves, but he did what he deemed necessary.
On the other, perhaps the Brabes could have just gotten over it and proved him wrong.
Seeing a rift between my favorite player and a bunch of dudes that will probably be gone in 5 years is irritating.
