No kidding. Would literally be the most boneheaded thing he could do.

I'm thinking that if he doesn't sign before the draft then the comp attachment goes away. So, sign him in mid June for 1 year $10M and get him ready for after the All-Star break.

4:38 PM: Per Kimbrel’s agent David Meter, via The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the report that Kimbrel would consider sitting out the 2019 season is false: “The report is wholly inaccurate and Craig looks forward to signing a new contract in the near future. Any report pertaining to his not playing this season is utterly false.”

Well, duh. No one should ever believe anything Bowden says. He's a tried and true moron.

Sounds like Harper to Philly is finally happening...Nightengale is reporting they are in deep and serious negotiations and that the Phillies owner doesn’t want to leave Vegas without a deal in place

And AA just found a penny on the ground that he is putting towards next year's payroll. They're gonna go from the 99 cent store to the $1 store for their free agent shopping!

Harper's pretty boy image doesn't really suit the rough and rowdy personality of Philly.

I'm looking at the remaining free agent market and if we make any more additions, it won't be a bat. There just isn't anyone that compelling left. I don't think we're gonna sign a starter, but if we do the only real options out there are Gio, Keuchel, and Bucholz. Edwin Jackson and James Shields maybe if we want some uber cheap depth.

On the reliever side, there is Kimbrel, nsacpi's Bud Norris, Tony Sipp, Nick Vincent, Adam Warren, and Ryan Madson as somewhat realistic options. I'd kinda like to see a Bud Norris or Tony Sipp signing if it were really cheap. Just to add some depth and.... really just to do SOMETHING.

Other than that and barring a trade, it looks like we done. Donaldson, McCann, and Markakis. Not exactly the huge offseason people wanted, but I guess its workable.

Rumor on twitter Padres offered 10/330 with an opt out after 5 and 8 years. But it seems Boras wants the biggest contract.

If you are going 330 then just go 350. Or add another year. Go 11/360
