September doesn't count against you, so it should just be based on AB. He can still have 4 AB today and retain rookie status.

Man, I really hope he has the chance to come up for a 5th AB just so we can see what happens.

    He's not ready for that.

He acquitted himself well. We can debate the service time and rookie status and all of that, but he's clearly a very good baseball player.

As per the Weiss comparison, Weiss hit 3 or more homers in a season 4 times in his career which consisted of 13 full seasons and 1 late-season call up. He hit 8 in 624 PAs in Colorado in 1996 and 4 in 469 PAs the next year for the Rockies. He hit 3 in consecutive seasons with the A's in 1998 and 1999 (the 1999 season was shortened by injury for him). By contrast, Swanson hit 3 (although one was inside-the-park) in 142 PAs before today.

Dansby will have considerable more power than Weiss. But really what I take out of that comp is the walk rate that Weiss had which was really good and the good defense.

I still like the Edgar Renteria comp. If Swanson could be that, we will be very happy.

Swanson should have a bit more power than Renteria and should also play better defense. I think it's a good comp for contact and walk rates though.

The player I keep coming up with for my Swanson comp is Trammell.

Trammell wasn't as athletic as Swanson. Larkin might be the better comp. I know Larkin had at least one 30 HR season, but that was unusual for him. I think Swanson will be a 15-20 HR guy, he's very fast, very quick and agile.

    And great hair.

I don't think many people give Trammell his due for how good a player he was. He won 4 GGs, stole 30 bases one year, while stealing 20+ a few other times, and peaking at 28 HRs in a single season. He was no slouch athletically.

The difference between Larkin and Trammell is splitting hairs though. They were both 70 career WAR players, with Trammell producing a little more defensive value and Larkin a little more offensive value.

The ladies would prefer you not split Swanson's hairs.
