Getting Ender back, sending Camargo down, and platooning Ender and Riley for a bit would be a good idea. Riley could also give Donaldson a day off, and you could throw Joyce in the platoon from time to time.

I just find it funny you always say how smart AA is, yet it's AA that keeps Riley in there while you throw shade on a young hitter 24/7. Everyone knew Riley would come back down to earth, yet you act like only you knew he wouldn't hit 70 HRs this year.

We need to shut this down and get a run or two next inning. This is way too close against a horrible ass team

Why Sobotka in a relatively close game?

The Nats have won so we absolutely cannot lose this and drop two of three to the Marlins.

We shouldn't let the Marlins take two of three regardless of what the Nats do.

This is a very good topic for intelligent discussion. It’s too early to peg Riley as a platoon player, but...

OPS vs LHP (43 PAs): 1.311
OPS vs RHP (154 PAs): .783

Does it make sense to use Riley on the short side of a 3-headed platoon with Markakis and Inciarte at the age of 22 and give up that development time he could be getting at AAA?

With Duvall and Camargo (whose strong platoon side is against LHP) I don’t think it’s a reasonable course of action to relegate Riley to a role as the short side of a platoon.

There aren’t exactly a lot of other good options at the moment...

Shall we go back and review what folks were saying about Riley while I was pointing out these red flags from week 1?

Agreed. It would suck to become sellers the day before the all star break.

I'm a big Riley guy, but I'd rather see an ender/duvall platoon if we choose that route. Riley needs to hit every day, and hopefully make more contact or draw walks

    Sounds like a solid strategy.

Someone should email this idea to the Braves FO and hope they alert Snit.

Camargo put up an 800+ ops last season, Joyce/Culberson platoon (both have hit well in SSS), duvall has a .930+ ops with better defense, and even Travis demeritte has a 1 ops. There are options, and AA feels Riley tops them all at the moment. Riley will have to make better contact soon though with ender on the way
