    When you start attacking people for spelling errors it's usually a sign that your argument sucks.

    maybe Hawk is on to 3 something's

    a) in Dumbphuckistan thier is no spell check

    b) pretty low threshold for "attack"

    c) we are in a race with Cuba to see who can best define the earths most oppressive state?
    statistics don't seem to be in our favor. Perhaps you'd like to argue health care or who has the most operating 1954 Chevrolets ???

    I guess I'm stuck trying to figure out how attempting to draw parallels between Cuba and the United States is anything other than petulant and misinformed.

    Cuba is quite far from this little oasis of socialist/communist ideals. It's home to a regime that has crushed dissent, murdered, and prohibited its citizenry from experiencing any semblance of liberty. Go to Havana, walk the streets, and experience it first hand. Then compare it to your silver spoon lifestyle here.

    Like KG correctly stated; you have no remote concept of true governmental oppression.

    ".. one is a rogue state with a corrupt political system that exports terrorism worldwide, that kidnaps, tortures, and assassinates without remorse, and imprisons more of its own people than any other nation on earth ..."

    "... the other is Cuba"
    /////////////////////////////

    1) To even discuss which witch is which is damning in itself.

    2) The NYT yesterday advocated arresting a former US Vice President for war crimes. Said VP has no qualms about throwing his former boss under the proverbial bus. Please show where Cuban leaders are in the same boat.

    3) It is a statistical fact we imprison more of our citizens than anyone on earth. I have posted a couple of different articles statistically showing as much

    4) I keep coming back to this. Our human rights record is being compared with Cuba !!

    Don't you remember when the Soviets prosecuted Vladimir Lenin? Or the Pol Pot trials?

    It is a statistical fact we imprison more of our citizens than anyone on earth.
    ... for committing crimes? Don't exactly hear much about imprisoned political dissidents in my circles. That is, unless, you subscribe to the theories of the 'secret' prisons beneath old rest stops, etc.

    I keep coming back to this. Our human rights record is being compared with Cuba !!
    By you. Which is both typical and amusing.

    Do you remember when Germany bombed Pearl Harbor ? Or when Pol Pot built the Berlin Wall ??

    The point being, the status quo ain't working -- we can do better. But the first step is and always will be recognizing there is a problem

    Yes I do AA -- perhaps not in this thread but --- yes I do

    We the people need this discussion.

    I posted an article spelling out how people like you,your cousins aunts and uncles are relegated to 2nd class citizenship. (Provided you are in fact black :)
    The data is there to see how we have created a class of people that are to be held --- held - their whole lives in the penal system.

    A week ago the torture report came out

    -- our political system is bought if you haven't noticed by the latest banking regulations (or lack thereof) . Written by Wall Street and voted on along donation lines . Both (D) and (R) ---- now you tell me --

    Political prisoners ??? How do you define a political prisoner ? I would use the 2000 purging of the voter rolls in Florida (which became the model in your state of Wisconsin) all but identified political opponents. This is fact.

    Create a penal subculture - then deny them their political rights based a biased justice code.
    /////////////

    and yes, we do imprison more people than anyone on earth. That includes, Russia,China,Cuba North Korea. What, they don't break laws in Russia China or Cuba ?
    You can look it up

    ////////////////////

    But hey ...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youth_i..._United_States

    Through the juvenile courts and the adult criminal justice system, the United States incarcerates more of its youth than any other country in the world, a reflection of the larger trends in incarceration practices in the United States. In 2010, approximately 70,800 juveniles were incarcerated in youth detention facilities alone.[1] Approximately 500,000 youth are brought to detention centers in a given year.[2] This data does not reflect juveniles tried as adults. Around 40% are incarcerated in privatized, for-profit facilities.[3]
    ///////////////

    Criticisms of racism
    Critics of the juvenile justice system believe that the system is unfairly stacked against minority youth. Minority youth are disproportionately represented in incarcerated populations relative to their representation in the general population. A recent report from the National Council on Crime and delinquency found that minority youth are treated more severely than white youth at every point of contact with the system—from arrest, to detention, to adjudication, to incarceration—even when charged with the same crime.[19] In 1995, African American youths made up 12% of the population, but were arrested at rates double those for Caucasian youths.[20] The trend towards adult adjudication has had implications for the racial make-up of the juvenile prison population as well. Minority youth tried in adult courts are much more likely to be sentenced to serve prison time than white youth offenders arrested for similar crimes.[2

    What I find amusing in your stats, those who have higher concentration rates, more of he dark skinned people islands or countries.

    And make no mistake about I am black, Bedell can tell you, Dalyn can tell you, Okie, even SAV can tell you so do not say I am not black because I don't act or sound black. There are blacks who don't like Obama, who hates Jackass and Devil Sharpton, there are blacks who hate welfare, there are blacks who hate the government teat.

    Get use to that.

    Those Stats are misleading. Crimes and thier punishment aren't universal.

    Most countries don't put up with a lot of the crap that our system does. Thier citizens learn from day one what is acceptable and the punishments they will get if they do wrong.

    When kids know that stealing and drugs are bad and they'll get death or thier hands cut off if they commit those crimes, they're likely not going to steal or mess with drugs.

    In America it's we'll just put them in the system.
