so they don't catch the Dodgers and thus avoid facing the Nats in the Divisional Series?

they won't catch them, in all likelihood.
i'm more worried about getting Soroka and Fried some rest somehow.

So we should avoid beating the Nationals so that we don't have to beat the Nationals in the playoffs, is that what I'm getting?
I'm not worried about the Nationals one iota. We have a better team than they do and I'd expect us to win in a short series. Wouldn't a sweep of Wash coincided by a winning streak from 1 of Arizona/Philly/Milwaukee/NY be a better option? Personally, I'd rather have the best record as the Dodgers have been pretty pedestrian on the road.
Lets just knock the Nats out of the playoffs altogether.

Also FYI, the Dodgers only have 5 games left on their schedule against teams with winning records. Two vs TB and three vs the Mets. So yea, even more reason we won't catch them.
If we think like that we're liable to end up facing Jacob Degrom in a one game playoff to get into a short series with the Dodgers. We need to win the division first. Then we can worry about the playoffs. You have to win against tough teams in the playoffs, and we've had some success against the Nats when they were playing well this year.
I hope to see Anderson make a spot start after the division is clinched and Snit wants to rest all the SPs.
It might be hard for the Braves to tank a game. I assume a tank lineup would consist of
2- Flowers
3- Camargo
4- Culbertson
5- Cervelli
6- Hech
7- Ortega or Duvall
8- Hamilton
9- Joyce
Over 162 games that would be bad group. But they could definitely steal a few games with just a little BABIP luck. Actually wouldn’t be a terrible defensive lineup.
I always remember the lineups the day after we clinched the division under Bobby.
It seems like Andruw was the only one who didn't get the day off, while all the other regulars did.

Bobby’s lineups were gold. That man knows how to rest players!

No way to tanking. Play it out and clinch that division as soon as possible. The Nats are too dangerous. They've gone 58-28 in their last 86 games and I see no reason for that to change in their last 26.

Doubt we catch LA, schedules too tough and Dodgers schedule is cake for the most part.
Dodgers are a lot worse on the road than they are at Chavez Ravine, but if it somehow happened, you deal with the consequences.
