Let's just make double dang sure that the new commissioner doesn't try to ramrod the DH through to both leagues. Stranger things have happened.

I remember you said you'd take Jacob Turner over Minor.

LOL Gattis is a fine defensive C.
If we have to deal him I understand. He's more valuable at DH.

    I wouldn't deal Gattis.

I would trade Upton, don't know if I'd include Minor though. His value has never been lower. I would trade some other options but I don't think we'll get fair return for MM.

What I would try to do is Upton and Bethancourt for someone. I know it will upset some but I don't think Bethancourt will ever hit enough.

There's an extremely small chance he ever hits enough, and it's not like his defense was great when he was up. If he has value, take advantage.
I agree on Minor. Selling low is never smart.

    Board's thoughts on:

    BJ Upton
    Mike Minor

    for

    Tim Lincecum

    no money changing hands.

Would we do it? Would SF do it?

I think it would be really silly to throw Minor away like he's worthless.
Lincecum is as bad as BJ. Though we'd only have him through next season.

I think a compromise might be coming on that front. Might see DH in all inter league action but not in NL games. I would be ok with that. It's as close as we can get to satisfying everybody.

Well, it's basically trading Minor for $23M, and a hope and a prayer that Roger could made Lincecum relevant again

Fine defensive catcher...LOL!!! He lets more balls through him than a basketball hoop. He doesn't move well and watch him run, it's only a matter of time until his legs are gone.

I think Bethancourt at worst case is Henry Blance. He's excellent defensively. But I don't think he'll ever live up to his max ceiling (Yadier Molina) cause I don't see him doing it.

The biggest issue with this team is a brutal offense. I don't see any reason to trade one of our better bats in Gattis.

What good is it for DOB to write that Upton will be moved while he's still here? I see this ending badly.

I'm no B. Upton fan, but I'd have waited till the offseason to say this out loud.

I don't wanna get rid of Gattis either but if it meant getting rid of BJ I would.

It' can't really get much worse with Bossman. Come September I'd find a way to try out some guys in LF for the rotational OF

And your point is? It was immediately after the draft. The majority of the board (and most analysts) thought he was reach.

I also wanted to trade Beachy for Lorenzo Cain and was laughed at. Would be pretty nice to have Cain roaming CF right now wouldn't you say?

We would have still signed BJ with Cain, he didn't do anything of any significance til last year. So who currrrrs.

No way that I'd dump BJ until I had resigned Justin. I'm sure Justin understands the business of baseball, etc, but I bet we'd save more resigning Justin with BJ still having a chance to play here than we would save in a BJ dump trade. That's and hoping BJ gets a Lasik, etc miracle this winter are really our only ways to minimizes our losses on this horrible contract. Or maybe BJ will get desperate and get on a good PED program!
