That might be true (depends on how you define "efficiency")—but lawyers write the rules, so it stands to reason that parsing and working through those rules, with clients' skin in the game, in an actual case, would be necessarily complicated and slow.

Just because things move slowly doesn’t mean they have to move slowly. They literally get paid based on how long things take.
