But 3 years of Wood is maybe ok for Olivera. I'd rather say 3 years of Alex Wood is worth 30 million (extra money Dodgers offered over us).

So for a time machine I'd rather offer Olivera 63 million and keep Alex Wood.
If the Braves made this deal with the believe that Olivera is an impact bat and Wood will be injurred in 2 years then how is not fair to look at it that way. Of course we don't know that is how they are thinking but I don't think you need some great leap to feel that way.

Olivera straight up for Wood isnt terrible value, giving up Luis, JJ and Peraza and not getting much else in return meh.

Sure it is. 3 years of Wood and 6 years of Peraza is bad value for Olivera.

It is 4 1/2 years of Wood. Rest of 2015, 2016, 17, 18, and 19. He isn't a free agent until after the 2019 season.

Agreed, I'd like to see a bit more. They have 10 OFs in LA right now... And we can't get a minor league body for the OF?

The Braves are trading Wood because they're worried he might be a injury risk and we trade for all of these guys coming off TJ lol.

If we were trading FOR Wood, we would be hearing about how healthy he is and how he's a potential Ace.

Because that's not what their current value is. It would be us allowing the Dodgers to value those players in that way, which would be stupid. If you think a player is due to get injured, then you go trade him...for his current value, not his hypothetical value if he is destined to get hurt. The former is how you consistently win trades; the latter is how you lose them.

There is no defending this deal unless there is more involved.

That would be a terrible train of thought. Hoping the piece back is an impact player for 3 years while devaluing your own piece for no reason.

Might as well trade Shelby bc he could get hurt sometime in the future

I've never said this was a good deal. I'm just trying to understand the rationale from the Braves. You can't hide things anymore. I'm sure in the negotiations the Dodgers were talking about the big injury risk that is Alex Wood. Friedman is a smart man and does all his homework. His value is not a compilation of his MLB stats.
