I remember when Mike Foltynewicz was better than Fried. It was 2018—not that long ago.

Sometimes young players learn new things. Two legit pitches, when before there was only one, suddenly changes his profile a lot.

Do you let Fried start the 7th with a rested pen?

Jeez. Fried is dominating. I’d probably only give him one more with a leash since it’s Robles, Rendon and Soto coming up but damn he’s good.

Given the low pitch count and a four game series, yes; but it'd be a very short leash?

Eh - Wilson is a one pitch pitcher with no offspeed. Fried had velocity and a wipeout curveball. Fried was interrupted by injury and blisters. Trying to fit Wilson into Frieds development curve will leave you dissapointed in time sir.

He may be one of those guys where you let him go 6 and have the bullpen take it from there. That said, when he has it going, he is really something to watch.

Martinez must not trust his pen at all. Sending Strasburg out there again is like he's playing an elimination game.

They are coming off of 2 straight games where the bullpen was heavily used.

Or it's a long series and he doesnt wanna burn his pen in game 1, they also had 2 back to back long games vs the Mets, so they needed some kind of length from Stras.

Fried’s four-seamer is still merely serviceable—the addition of the dominant slider is the key, and indeed he should up his usage and go ~50% breaking-balls.

Right now Wilson too has one good pitch, some serviceable secondaries, and a lot of youth on his side.
