But also to get to that point the Astros absolutely tanked for years and got a few #1 overall picks that they hit on.

Albies is rocking a 1.205 OPS since Demeritte was traded. He can finally relax.

Soroka has been amazing but I think we can all say his ceiling is a good number 2.
Fried has been a godsend this season but looks to be a 3/4
I’m hoping Anderson will be close to those two.
Can you win a title with those 3 as your top pitchers?
Unless we have a generational offense I just don’t see it, which means we need to draft and develop an ace in the next 5-7 year window of contention or trade for one since your pretty much saying we aren’t spending money on anyone of that caliber.
    Pretty depressing.
I believe Houston is the blue print for us as far as a payroll matching a market size.
They make plenty or profit and put a good bit back into the product.Best of both worlds.
Sucks we are stuck with owners that don’t think that way.
Houston's payroll once their arb guys get money will come close to 200 million. I doubt we'll ever get that high, i can maybe see 160-170 is all went well but do agree we need an ace.

Houston's entire rotation isnt even homegrown.

Cole, Sanchez, JV, Greinke all traded for, and Miley FA signing.

It's mostly the hitters that they hit with the draft picks.

Ozzie is a good hitter left handed - streaky but decent. But as a right hander hitting lefties, he's out of this world. To the point that I'm not sure why a lefty would even bother giving him a pitch to hit.

Fried looked great yesterday. Minnesota whacked a couple of offspeed pitches in that last inning for hits but they were good pitches, well off the plate. It isn't like those fall in all that often.

His 180 WRC+ against lefties this year is 5th in baseball.

Has anyone else noticed how few non-homer extra base hits Acuna has gotten this year? You would think with his speed and power that he would have at least 20 doubles by this point in the season. But it seems like he's either hitting a ball out or he's hitting singles.

I just thought that was kinda strange.

Agreed. To me, Fried looked out of this world dominant for at least a time. If he could harness that for long stretches, watch out.

His past 3 starts have been good.

1 run ball vs Reds and could have easily gone 7-8 if not for rain, good vs Philly until the 6th inning, and yesterday.

He's stealing every time, so really, they are doubles! LOL
