MLB.TV or television

I am out of the Braves television market obviously. I had MLB Extra Innings years ago when I lived in New York. I have had MLB.TV for a couple years now. Currently I have DirecTV and couldn't find a price for the baseball package. Anyone know about much it is? I am sure .tv will be a little cheaper, but suffering through those damn FOX Saturday blackouts was enough for me. I am leaning towards the baseball package simply because it will be easier and almost all games will be HD. Thoughts from other people out of market.

Pretty sure the new MLB tv deal takes effect this year, which under the new deal means no more blackouts for the FOX Saturday games on MLB.tv and MLBEI.

I just like the ease with having all baseball games on my TV. Don't have to worry about a choppy internet connection or falling an inning behind the live feed. I do like that blackouts things possibly going away.

If you have the internet speed for it MLB.tv. All you need for it to hook up to your TV is Roku or Apple TV. Which if you have a decent router shouldn't give you any problems.

Well I was assuming he didn't already have something. And the wifi on things like Roku and Apple TV are usually better than smart TVs.

I can watch it on my Samsung Smart TV or my iPad or my phone. Pretty easy choice for me. If you are getting a choppy video then you must have a crappy internet connection. I have never had an issue and I am running 4 computers and 2 TV's off mine....most of the time at the same time.

I had and have Comcast's best internet connection and have had issues in the past with connectivity with mlb.tv

I wish they didn't have blackout rules. I would definitely get MLB.tv so I could watch the Braves. My cable just got cut off last week and it's not in my plans to get it cut back on anytime soon. Guess I'll be listening to the games on radio like I was stuck doing for most of the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Mlb will do away with blackouts sooner rather than later. Yankees did it

I'm actually excited from a cable cutting perspective about where I live, because I only would get blocked out from Redsox games. Before the Mets were blocked so I had to proxy it up, which meant I had to watch those games on my laptop or desktop.

Being in NYC, I was faced with a similar choice, but I've always gone with MLB.tv for the past 8 years. Reason being, I have Apple TV and using the MLB.tv app I can watch on my TV with a clear picture. It also gives me the option to watch on my phone, as well as if I'm on the road on my laptop.

I do it through Directv, I like being about to change channels, pause, rewind etc

HD on the big screen all the way. Being far-sighted requires wearing glasses to look at a small display or hand held device. So this is an easy decision. Haven't gotten Extra Innings in a few years though. Kind of expensive, but nice to have it when the urge strikes to watch. Comcast just bought out my cable provider, Time Warner. Considering there are hundreds of channels of content, not worth watching or paying for, there has to be bandwidth for Sports South.

This might not be a popular opinion around here, but if the Braves play the Mets, the Mets broadcast team on SNY is much more enjoyable. Would take Ron Darling over Joe Simpson any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
