I personally didn't see anything in Ian Thomas that made me think he'd be an effective MLB starter, but I haven't seen him as much as many of you. Low 90s to high 80s FB out of the pen w/ command issues is my reference point.

He has a high walk rate over 16 major league innings. A much lower walk rate over many more minor league innings.

His strikeout rate is very good both the majors and minors.

Plus he has been effective against both righties and lefties.

In a year we are punting, I would have used the starts given so far to Cahill and Stults for guys like Thomas and Cody Martin. Also I would have kept Foltynevich on the farm longer to delay free agency by a year and given some of his starts to Thomas and Martin.

Folty was up last year with the Astros so his clock is already ticking.

The major league service time clock stops when a player returns to the minors.

It does, but we can also stop that clock by shutting him down early as well, which is what I'm guessing we'll do.

It would not stop his service time clock if they shut him down but he remains on the major league roster.

Speaking of which we wasted Cunningham's last option by sending him down after he had a strong spring training.

Doesn't Folty have an option left?

He was called up last year, but never sent down. This year we did use an option sending him down at the end of spring training. And we can keep using the same option for the entire season.

So after this season he will have 2 options left

Maybe Callaspo likes his teammates and doesn't want to be traded....that does happen ya know
Just wanted to point out that the Dodgers gave Callaspo an extra $100,000 to offset the difference in taxes. But I'm sure it was just the teammates thing. So anyway...
    thank you weso1!

So he received $100k in inducement from both clubs?

The only report I saw said the Braves paid him 100k but you know that already. I didn't see anything about the Dodgers doing so, maybe I missed it?
