And just like that, GOP discovers $5.7 billion for a wall.

    $5.7 billion

What if we instead added $5.7B in teacher pay?
    Or replacing water pipes?
    Or college tuition/prescription refill subsidies?
    Or green jobs?

But notice how no one’s asking the GOP how they’re paying for it
    .

    dont they understand "math"
or is it only people labeled "socialists" expected to show their "math"

can we expect that funding recinded after the first ?

who voted for these Bozos and who told them it was a good idea ?
    "what propaganda"

    an update:
Prosecutors forced the Trump foundation to close this week.
And the one that garnered all the attention and accused of fraudulent practices ?

Quite a letter from Mattis. Very talented guy who knows his stuff. Curious to see who Trump taps to take his place and what the US posture will be moving forward.

Republicans voted for a guy who cares more what

Ann Coulter thinks than General Mattis.

    Merry Christmas.

Curious to see what happens when Corker leaves. Will McConnell put someone in that chair with a similar view to Trump's? That assumes, of course, that Trump has a cogent view on foreign policy. His current actions/attitudes recall some of Obama's. On top of this, I wonder what Israel thinks of the latest move. They can certainly take matters into their own hands, but this would seem to strengthen Iran's position in Syria. And the Kurds get crapped on again after doing a lot of the heavy lifting against ISIS.

This take from you is the least surprising development around here. It’s not 100% wrong (though it ignores, among other things, that a lot of Democrats are internationalists who are generally fairly friendly to this kind of thing, so it’s not that surprising). Lots aren’t, and more still who are further left though not necessarily Democrats. I’m glad for an opportunity to point out the lunacy of the fp orthodoxy that says that we have to be at war everywhere forever, and I also understand the point of view of people who think the least harm for the most people may be realized through a more robust process than a presidential tweet.

But, silly me for responding to a gotcha with a conversation instead of just another gotcha.

I was merely pointing out that people seem to be on the side of against Trump above their anti-war preference.

I don't like it that he announced it via Twitter either. But no matter how we got there, I'm glad we got to that decision.

Rachel Maddow appears angry about it, though.

There are certain flavors of lib that’re angry about it for reasons ranging from bad-but-understandable, bad but bad, and really not that bad. If you read the recent AP article about Trump’s call with Erdogan, it’s not hard to understand.

I’ve been pretty clear. I’m glad for the prospect of ending direct military involvement. As much as I think the process absolutely sucks, I’ll look at the silver lining of at least, maybe, putting some cracks in the Forever War orthodoxy. But some people who are carping about it have some legitimately reasonable points. Try that perspective on for size, even if you don’t agree with them, instead of just going for the cheap hypocrisy hot take.
