Swanson is avg 0.024 fWAR per game.

Pretty much a wash between our 2 big 2nd year guys. If you include Albies in that group, he is at 0.043 fWAR per game

Speak for yourself. Of course I never felt disappointment with andruw like a large part of our fanbase did either.

Swanson has played well to this point.

Devers just struck out on three straight pitches that appeared to be a foot outside.

Statistically speaking it's not close. There have been guys from time to time to be as good as druw for a few years. But nobody had done it for as long as he did

And the next batter walks on four straight outside.

Thanks for backing up what I thought I saw. I used to watch the braves just to see andruw play cf

To be fair, that's about all I remember him ever being projected as being. Looks like his defense has maybe been worse than expected though.

Fine. I would be very disappointed if our potential six WAR 30/30 guy replicated Nick Markakis’a career.

Juan Lagares' 2013 year was the closest I've seen comparable to Andruw's defensive play.

Ok, so Bowman put out some tweets today, maybe yesterday, saying Acuna leads the team and maybe the Major leagues in four star catches whatever that means exactly. I didn't see the game that got people complaining about his defense, but I'd gather that was a Bowman response.

Now when did Markakis have a 20-20 career?

If he put up those numbers, I'd hope that people wouldn't find him even more inexplicably disappointing.

Wasnt he a consensus number one overall prospect? I would think his projections would have been a bit more aspirational.

I flibbed when I used the word “disappointment”. Those players aren’t disappointments. More like a bunch of singles and doubles, and no homeruns.

Tbh they really weren't. Maybe he should be better than this, but from what I saw his expectations were a bit better than Dansby Swanson (.300 hitter with good OBP and 20/20 and not a guy that does something exceptionally).
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Technicalllllllly... no. But 23-18 is close enough, right?

Nick had a fantastic career. But try tossing that name as a comp on a top prospect and see how much excitement that generates.
