Acuna is pretty much terrible at every level of defense.

    That was a bloop.

Last two hits were positioning hits.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

A definite uptick in the number of non-competitive pitches from Newcomb today.

And yes, the last two hits were bad positioning hits. They both had hit probabilities under 50%.

Newk has been feasting on aggressive teams. It was never sustainable.

I really was expecting a strong throw from acuna on that play or at least keep runner at 2b. That throw was weak for even markakis

I’m not making any excuses today. He’s pitched really damn awful. Luckily, he’s been way better than worse most of the year.

He's going to start facing bad offenses again after this game so he'll likely do fine again.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not excusing poor command, but Swihart's hit was a bloop that poor positioning hurt him on. He shouldn't go back out and I'm not sure what to do pen wise.

    Nice hit by Acuna.

Newcomb's last 11 starts and that team's off walks per game...

    Wash 3rd
    Col 16th
    Cubs 4th
    Mets 11th
    Reds 8th
    Mets 11th
    Rays 17th
    Marlin x2 23rd
    Red Sox 22nd

Not sure where you guys get newcomb has been just facing aggressive teams, but Boston is a patient team
