With Doeren out, maybe call Sumlin?

I guess he’s inferring racism. I doubt it though. Haslam’s NFL coach is Hugh Jackson, and the Tennessee fanbase are in love with Tee.
I think there real reason is because he has no experience as a head coach and very little as a coordinator.
Or maybe Peyton is pissed that Martin won a title at UT the year after he left.

I can't help feeling that if Schiano was mentioned for the first time today, after all these whiffs, Vol fans would be in love with him. How has Tennessee football arrived at a place where the NC State coach turns them down?
Go get him!

Reports are he didn't feel he'd be embraced by vol fans, and he's probably right (though eventually we'd get in line for anyone not named Schiano or Briles).
Hopefully Mike Leach puts an end to this mess. Was a top 5 candidate before this debacle. No way we could do any better.
The media in the SEC is praying Tennessee hires Leach. His personality is completely opposite of most of the other coaches in the league.

Currie out as AD.
It’s being reported that Currie was about to hire Leach, and Fulmer nixed it. Apparently, he’s been sabotaging the whole search process because he wants the AD job. Unreal.
Reportedly, Fulmer is being pushed by other boosters to step in after the Schiano debacle. There is a lot of dissension among the administration and among boosters as well. Most boosters want Haslam removed from having any influence over hires (Schiano was Haslam's choice)
Not sure I believe that, but if true that is sad. I would imagine Manning would support Fulmer, his friend and former coach over Currie and Haslam. Manning hasn't been that involved in the process and he is company man. He supports basically any decision UT makes. Hell he was supporting Butch Jones like a week before he was fired.

Every time I think the Tennessee coaching search has gotten as crazy as it's going to get and is about to settle down, it just gets crazier.

I've not seen it, but on another site it was posted that Chris Low was on Sportscenter saying there is not any truth to the rumor that Fulmer sabotaged the search. Says Fulmer was even actively trying to convince Doeren to take the UT job, at the request of Currie.
Edit: "at the request of Currie" was not part of the quote. But per Chris Low, there was no sabotage.

I will take the job for $800,000.
Dear Mr UT Chancellor,
I’ll take it for a flat Mill. 500 k buyout. Reinvest what you would have paid whoever else was into facilities and upgrades and hookers and let’s roll. After my 4 year contract is up and you have made upgrades hire a real coach and actually complete for the first time in years of being a perennial disappointment.

The reVOLution appears to have worked. Fulmer could really help make some very positive changes to our program. A much needed power shift.
thank you weso1!

The power is going away from Haslam, which can only be a good thing. Hopefully the circus is now behind us. I'd expect the hiring process for new HC to not go quite as quickly, even with the early signing period looming. Tee will likely be toward the top of the list with Fulmer making decisions. I also wouldn't count out previous names that we've approached, like Brohm or Leach, as there was obviously mutual interest and neither coach signed an extension to stay with their current team. I wouldn't expect a decision to made till next week at the earliest.
Maybe Ole Miss can bring in Coppy in an advisory role.
