I'm a huge Markakis fan. It's more about his work towards developing other guys and his clubhouse presence, but I agree. He doesn't make much sense on his team. His contract, which we complained about, is very good and he has the skill set that a lot of teams could use. (if you say I'm wrong, you obviously don't understand the market)
That's how I feel. I actually really liked the the guy, but didn't understand the signing. Maybe this was their plan? Or maybe it was just a mistake. Nonetheless, I love Markakis. Apparently the White Sox are in on Gordon, but besides that you're completely right. I can see Ces and Justin going almost simultaneously though. I'd say wait until those bats are gone and see what we can do!
The most overlooked aspect of the Simmons trade is whether or not Newcomb's nickname is Duke.

No. Our job here is to be complete homers and overly positive about everything. Vastly overrate prospects. Talk about how ex player really isn't that good anyway. Do all of this and you fit in just fine here. Veer off this path and you will never return and will be labeled as a "troll" or a a person who a bad fan.

Anyone see the proposed trade between KC and Atlanta regarding Inciarte put out there by mlb.com Phil Rogers?
It was Inciarte and Chris Ellis to KC for Ashe Russell, Bubba Starling and Rey Fuentes.
I think that's horrible (but the other four he put out there were pretty bad as well). Ellis by himself is better than either Starling or Fuentes. Russell was highly regarded going into the draft but would be no better than 7th or 8th on the Braves top 10.
I much prefer a Inciarte & Teheran to the Cubs for Inf Baez, CF Almora, C Contreras, RF Jiminez and 3B Candelario
Highly unlikely that we trade away any of the top end pitching talent that we've acquired within the last year. At least until we're ready to compete anyways. May be next offseason in a trade for a major piece like a Michael Brantley or something.

Outside of Baez (who would immediately be on the MLB club at least)... those prospects aren't any better than the ones you mentioned from the Royals... just more quantity and you're adding our best pitcher. Contreras has only had one good year... Almora is only hyped because he was a first rounder, his stats and peripherals are nothing special (his value has dive bombed as he continues to not take the next step... basically the same player as Starling)... he's a top of the order hitter with no speed. Jimenez has potential but is worlds away and hasn't exactly lit the world on fire yet... Candelario is a third baseman with no power and a career OPS under .800 in the minors.
So with that, I don't see any of those prospects being more than 7th or 8th in our top prospect list either... I just don't get the love of Almora and Contreras... they are living on hype and their numbers don't gel. I know we need a catcher eventually, but Contreras isn't exactly an elite prospect... if not for this past year in AA (with a high BABIP), he'd be just another C floundering in the minors that no one knows.
Basically the only upgrade in package you're getting is Baez and a little more quantity, but you're adding an All-Star caliber TOR pitcher.
Also don't see how you could say Ellis is better than Russell... Russell has a much higher ceiling and has much more value, he's just much further away. Ellis is a nice prospect but he's a 3 or 4 at best.
