The peninsula is more unified at this moment than it has been in nearly two decades.

The only leaders that despise trump and the ones from Europe. This idea that Obama was a respected figure outside Europe is laughable.

    None.
    Sure it was.

I'm not suggesting any kind of equivalence. Just playing the "imagine if" game, which is admittedly tiresome, but still seems relevant about six times a day.

I'm waiting for the part when we get the Hawksplanation for Trump's misunderstood genius here and how the media is mischaracterizing events.

No, it wasn’t. I respect you too much for the lol-roll, but ... come on.

It was hailed as the dawn of a new generation of cooperation between the United States and Iran. A new, safer Middle East.

To pan the public messaging off as simply amounting to ‘pushing back the nuclear program by a few years’ is incredibly dishonest.

The money released by Obama to the Iranians were frozen Iranian assets --in US banks.
from I forget when or where or why

so we didn't give them the money, we renewed, with stipulation, access to their money

    That is how sanctions work.
In other words, the Iranians didn't have blackmail material on Obama to be used as influence to avoid sanctions. S0,
They simply sat down and made a deal that was advantageous to both parties.

Not sure how lifting sanctions against the Russians -- we got anything. Except ... a stupid hat for $40 where the proceeds go to legal defense funds

Perhaps I'm leaning more on various assessments of its prospects and efficacy and not public messaging. I genuinely have only the vaguest recollection of what that was, anyway. Not sure why it's so relevant a point to come so hard after, considering that my comparison--which, I admitted, is tiresome--doesn't exactly fold up if we apply it only to messaging. If anything, it's augmented.

The decision had to be made to release these funds. That decision was made as part of the negotiation. Therefore, the 1.7B was given to the Iranians to get them to sign the deal. Obama deals...

you might want to read on your own the implications and intricacies of the Iranian deal.
If not mistaken, that portion (if not all) of the sanctions were lifted.

"The Historic Deal that Will Prevent Iran from Acquiring a Nuclear Weapon"

Scroll down to the testimonials for some real knee-slappers.

Anyways, your analogy was not tiresome, just ****ty. I seized on the tacit admission that the Iran deal was as stillborn as the body of Obama's foreign policy because was kind of just sitting there.

He was respected in Asia, greatly respected in Africa and generally respected all over the world. He had a functioning State Dept. and White House and wasn't in the papers tripping over his own tongue. He was also respected for the simple reason that he showed respect to other world leaders and didn't use every photo opt to puff and preen.
