You know what, you're right. Having Swanson on the team these few weeks in a losing season is definitely more valuable than having him under cheap control when he's at his peak at age 29 while the Braves are a playoff contender.

Seems smart. Keep up the excellent critical thinking genius.

Why did Johnson hit? Do we have no PH?

Assuming no CBA change or contract extension. AKA worst case scenario.

Dansby hitting and the Braves losing. Sounds good to me!

How did Folty look tonight? Why only 6 innings? Pitch count?

It would be just like you, Enscheff, to pay for a player's decline years from 29-34 based on yesterday's spreadsheet numbers.

Which is a moot point because he will be the opening day SS barring injury. If you want to argue that is stupid go ahead, but we lose no years of control by bringing him up when they did.

Exactly, Cajun. He can't file for free agency during the season, so in that respect it doesn't matter if he comes up in August or next April. Either way, we get the same amount of control until FA. He could end up a Super 2, though. That could come back to bite us in the wallet.

Well, that is exactly what he's arguing, not sure why that is hard to comprehend. Bring him up in May or later and we gain an extra year of control, unless the CBA changes that, which is definitely possible. We'll find out soon enough on that.

One thing is for sure: This team has come really far over the course of a year. We don't lay down for teams and we fight back pretty consistently.

Dansby is going to be really damn good. I can't wait to see what happens once he finishes the season, gets some rest and is a full-time starter.

Yes I'm the dumb one... Him being up now makes absolutely zero difference with regards to control so spare me your soapbox

Looked great but yeah he was over 100 pitches after 6. Finished strong though.

He's also arguing that Swanson isn't ready to play at this level. I think he is showing that he is ready to play in the majors. No the service time thing is a different matter and can be important due to several factors. I don't believe the worst case scenario will happen with Swanson which is him leaving for FA after his time here where waiting until late April of next year would of prevented that under current rules. Time will tell on that.

It's all moot bc Swanson will be extended.

I hope Strasburg is alright, but that contract may turn out to be the equivalent of burning money in a barrel.

We would had to have brought Dansby up in early June for him to have qualified for Super 2 status.
