AA will no doubt get us a legit arm for the bullpen maybe 2.

yeah he'll be way more than fine. as you noted, legitimate positives this year offensively with the k/bb.

the team is already good and has tons of ammo (and maybe a few more dollars) to reinforce.
there's already a lot of depth off the bench. i don't think much will have to be done on the offensive side. tho i wish they'd see what Duvall can do at the major league level.

Yeah the offense is fine and so is the rotation it’s just the bullpen. Will Smith would do wonders for the team.

Smith is really the ideal target for this team. He can co-close with Jackson depending on matchups. Those two would take care of the 8th & 9th.

Not much salary to take on. The Giants might be ok with taking Duvall as a return. They have been looking for outfield help. If they want a prospect instead, we can offer second-tier prospects like Allard, Davidson, Demeritte and Jenista.

Our young middle infielders are having some nice seasons even though I wish their defense was up to last years standards

    Albies: 105 WRC+ 1.4fWAR
    Swanson: 106 WRC+ 1.2 fWAR

Swanson's defense is ticking me off. He should be over 2 fWAR. You advanced guys... is Swanson's defense worse or is it just dumb errors?

They show his range has regressed. He's playing at a level similar to 2017. That said it could be a SS issue as 2+ months of defensive data is equivalent to 3 weeks of hitting data. So really anything can happen regarding opportunities, etc since it's a number that compares you to other players around the league and not strictly what you are doing. Not sure how they would do it but I'm hopeful statcast data can start to measure infielders like we can with outfielders currently.

On a 3-1 count not much of a guess.

It's funny that the bench was a legit concern after Camargo and Culberson to start the season and it's turned out to be a huge strength. Nobody wanted Joyce or Duvall on the team (myself included) and now most are clamoring for Joyce to get more playing time and for us to call up Duvall.

Impressive game for Riley. Easily could have had another homer if he slightly pulled that flyout. Pirates must be glad to not see the Braves after today as we've crushed their pitchers.

Also missed a HR on that triple by about 5 feet.

Honestly it shouldn't have been much of a surprise to us that Joyce is hitting. He sucked last year but has been a consistently above average hitter in his career. Nice pickup by AA.

Duvall I'm still a believer in. I bought the excuse his diabetes is what wrecked his season last year after starting out well. I hope he gets a chance at some point as if he's hitting he's a very good 4th OF with his defense.

Does Duvall get called up today with Donaldson suspended?

While true I feel that's an out in most parks? Not sure how the distance there compares to other places. Either way it was a nice game to bust out of his slump. He definitely has the quality of contact thing going.

If Riley can cut down on swing and misses in the zone, Bob Horner lite, because Horner did not miss them but the DL always got him. He could not run from it. Also there is little Murphy in him a well when hitting pitches out of the zone to right field. Murphy's wall at Fulton Cty Stadium. Lot of dents from his home runs.

Now Donaldson, if he does not pick it up, I would deal him at the break. Camargo would probably give us similar numbers but not strike out as much and a better average.

I know Dr. Scheff is going to kill my posts but I don't he was old enough for me to tell you about our two hitters we watch growing up.

Not when you are good enough to drop it on the top of the foam padding its not.
