Holland back to the Rockies all but done - he told us Saturday he really liked it out there.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Looks like Cameron stole another of my ideas...

    Erik
12:09 Should the Phillies be moderate buyers this offseason? They have basically no chance at a playoff spot this year, but don't most teams have to have one season where they win about 80 games in between being terrible and making the playoffs?
    Dave Cameron
12:09 No, there's no ladder you have to climb.
If I was the Phillies, I'd be taking on all the dead money that's out there to get guys who can help me now and in the future.
So take all the Marlins money to get Yelich. Take all the Royals money to get Duffy. That kind of thing.

The Rox already have Ottavino and Dunn each making $7M, now Shaw and Mcghee each making $9M, $4m in projected arbitration salalaries puts them at $36M. They could have a $50M bullpen this year after signing Holland.

I was just about to make a similar post.

For a team projected to be around .500 with a $130M payroll, that seems...unwise.

I thought Bridich was supposed to be super smart.

Ozuna is a Cardinal, according to Jesse Sanchez.

    Alright, let's go get Yelich.

Cards will get Ozuna. If they got 2 OFers in the return I imagine that means Yelich is going next.

Lots of speculation the Marlins got Grichuk and Flaherty and Alcantara.

    Eno Sarris
1:23 Joel Sherman says SP and OF with team control and MLB experience, and a pitching prospect. So... like, Grichuk and Flaherty and Alcantara?

I love Alcantara for the same reasons I loved Folty...so that's not exactly a great endorsement.

Hope we do get Yelich, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on it. I don’t see us making a big splash until next year at earliest.

    Here we go.

Passan: Sources: Now that Marcell Ozuna has been dealt to St. Louis, Christian Yelich is in play. Marlins are telling teams they’ll trade him, though price will be even higher than Ozuna, with Yelich under control for up to five years at $58.25 million.

I know AA wanted to be conservative, but this is no joke. We need to grab Yelich. He's available, we have the guys and depth to do it.

So let's hope the Cards gave up a crappy package

At the beginning of our rebuild we could have had Ozuna for a song . Ugh

I dunno. FLaherty has 21 innings. I guess you could call that MLB experience

So if the package includes one of Grichuk or Piscotty, then the other would stay on as a reserve.

What are they going to do with Harrison Bader, and Tyler Oneil? Both of those guys could hold down a corner OF spot for someone in 2018

There might be another deal coming for Longoria

We need to see what Yelich or Piscotty would cost. Really like the idea of buying low on Piscotty.

I think I'd only take Acuña, Gohara, Wright, Swanson and Albies off the table. Would certainly try not to deal Pache or Soroka either.

No chance we get Yelich without sending one of Wright or Gohara.

I have Ozuna with $50M-$70M in surplus value, Flaherty and Alcantara both at around $15M each, and Grichuk around $20M+.

That's $50M+ for Ozuna. Seems almost perfect.

Their OF will be Ozuna, Fowler and Pham. Piscotty and Grichuk are almost certainly gone. I bet Piscotty ends up in SF or Oakland with Grichuk playing CF in Miami.

Only possible way I see us getting around giving up Wright (I don't see us giving up Gohara) is if we take on the contracts of Prado and/or Chen.
