Eh -- it's a solid move. Nothing special about it either way. I can't really complain.

Maybe he would form the better half of a surf and turf platoon?

There's a Schimpf cocktail joke in there somewhere, but I'm not sure I want to go looking for it.

In game 3/8/18 vs Astros, Schimpf went 0-3 with 3 Ks. That makes his ST totals, including 5 games with Rays, 0-17, 11 Ks, 1 BB.

He certainly has started slow this ST, but he has an OPS over .800 in MLB so far with the Padres. Plus he has ten more homers on the road than at Petco. I'd think he would hit more homers playing here. But I'd probably only start him vs righties. Maybe a platoon of sorts with Camargo might work. I noted that Schimpf had some of his best numbers vs three teams in our division (Mets, Marlins and Nationals).

That said, I expect he might start the year in AAA but could see him recalled quickly if he starts well.

No, he is going back to the Royals. Per MLBTR: "Moustakas and the Royals are “close” to hammering out a reunion, Heyman tweets."

In 3 PA vs Yankees Fri evening, Schimpf had 1 BB(2 for ST), 2 more Ks(113 total for ST to move 0-19 for combined ST games. He also made a fielding error at 3B

We question Blair and Wisler being around, why not Schimpf??

On Sun he went 0-2 with 2 more Ks, He's now 0-21, 2 BBs, and 15 Ks for ST.

    Time for him to GO,

I can think of a number of reasons, small sample size (esp. with us so far), it's only ST, and he has two minor league options meaning we can option him to AAA this year and next if needed. So just let him start in AAA and see if he can get going and if not you DFA him later on when you need to. He is being given a shot because he plays third and has an OPS over .800 in the Majors so far. Plus if he gets back to what he was in the past he might make a good platoon partner with Camargo at third. Time will tell on that and given his minor league options we have time.

HE’S COSTING US ST GAMES!!! Oh no... personally, I have no problem with him striking out in ST games and starting the year in AAA. Maybe he figures it out and hits some HRs for us at some point this year... Lord knows we could use some power

Going to presume this is a surf&turf joke, but I think lobster or crab pairs better with steak than Schimpf.
