July record = 6-4
July record = 6-4
and should be 7-3.
Because the WC is in reach. As much as I'd love to see at least one playoff game this year I'm not foolish enough to think a mid level acquisition (Verlander) actually gives us a realistic chance of winning anything this year.
I dont think we need to buy now to be on pace for a 85-88 win team next year. Just by upgrading BP/Markakis with Albies and Acuna is going to be worth 4-6 wins. Even if we can't get rid of Nick or Kemp I think playing them in a platoon role will help their production slightly so maybe you see .5 or 1 win more out of that platoon in LF. The team is shaped up great for next season and we may find out that we don't need any starting pitchers either. I just think now is the wrong time to buy. The needs are not clear for the future (1 year out).
I mean - It's possible that we don't have ANY NEEDS. Camargo may in fact prove to be a capable starter (2-3 WAR) at third base. Newcomb may be a 2-3 win starter. Teheran looks to be turning a corner now. Allard/Soroka could very easily be ready by June of next season. The options are endless. I don't want to trade long term talent for a 2 year player.

That crowd was loud last night as well. I wonder if this is what 91 felt like for the organization.
I think at this point people might have to admit that the move to Sun Trust was a great idea. I wonder the liklihood is of building on this years attendance in future years. Looks like max attendance for a year is around 3.4M. This year the Braves probably get to 2.7M. Could they be at 2.9 next year?
I would love to see what their cash flow statement looks like right now.

Natural Immunity Croc
It was always a good idea based on that was infograph the Braves posted a few years back about the majority of tickets or whatever being purchased from that area. If the DOB number is right and they are at 33% increased attendance from last year then that is up from the average ballpark bump of the high 20's. Good times.
Alright thewupk give it to me. I deserve it for drinking and betting. Pleased at the result. Hate I missed the game. I will only wear your collar for July.
Based on the thread it looked like Folty was descent but got unlucky and so so defense behind him.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
One thing that has become clear is it makes sense to rest Kemp and Markakis a game a week or something like that. We really haven't been able to do that because of a lack of suitable fourth outfielder on the roster. I thought Santana did well in the Oakland series when Kemp was DH and he could serve that kind of role when he gets back. Sean Rodriguez could also do it.

Having seen Santana up here in Minnesota, I think he can be a contributor. I don't think he's as dynamic as Mallex, but he can play in the infield as well as the outfield. I think it is becoming apparent that Kemp and Markakis need to rest and Snitker should be replacing Kemp for defensive purposes late in games. Having Rodriguez available should help, but there's no reason Lane Adams couldn't replace Kemp late in games when we're leading. Snitker uses the bullpen like its Game 7, but rarely makes defensive changes when they are clearly in order.
