So you want to forfeit a top 10 pick on an injured player?

Exactly. And if Stewart has to miss time because of this injury, it’s even further moot.

I would gladly prefer signing a healthy Stewart over the alternative, but the Braves have to make due with the situation as it is.

Depends on what we do with the pick next year.

And shifting a first rounder by a year would make less of an issue if not for the sanctions we're currently under and the prospects we lost. We'll need to refill the system as fast as possible.

Also, no Stewart means no Hess. So that's less than ideal.

Good question... we had our most high profile set of international signings ever... I'm not missing a single one at this point... none of them are considered big prospects. Yet, we've really hit some major homeruns on the cheap ones... seems like the cheapies could very well end up being better players in many circumstances.

Just give up and move on. The Braves screwed up by not signing him. Watch him go to another team next year and then dominate.

Yeah.... this is disappointing, but it really not a big deal... I don't think folks are completely grasping how little of a deal this is.

People really aren’t putting any stock into this injury thing are they?

The Braves could have had added an incredible talent but screwed it up and got nothing...It's a pretty big ****ing deal.

So we already had that $4.9 million budgeted, where will the team be spending it?
It makes sense to move that to the 2019 draft since we will have a slot there of roughly equivalent value.

Again.... this doesn't hurt in the bogus refill the system narrative. One of the first two picks you pick and advanced college bat/pitcher and that player is already at or ahead of where Steward would have been anyways.... think a bit about this. Do you want a guy who relies on his wrist for his best pitch (the reason he was a first round pick) to be our first round pick if the injury is serious?

Incredible talent who's wrist may not work anymore? We won't have a shot at another incredible talent next year? You're being ridiculous. Lets sign him, even if a serious injury was revealed that will likely affect his best pitch! GREAT PLAN. Also enjoying quite a few of the players we've already gotten in the draft who are looking great.

Multi-sport star Chad Hutchinson did not sign with the Braves out of high school in 1995 and instead went to Stanford where he pitched and played QB. Played both in MLB and NFL.

So you’d rather take the cheap international signing over the big money ones. That’s a new one.
