He ran into a house and when the police got there, he fired a gun and killed 27 year old Mobile PD officer Justin Billa. The coward eventually killed himself before the cops could take him alive. Officer Billa leaves behind a wife and a one year old son. Rest peaceful Officer Billa. Mobile and her citizens appreciate your service to our community.

Sad. Domestic violence calls are some of the most common, and most potentially dangerous calls police have to make.

The problem I have with this is the bias against men when it comes to domestic violence. There are a lot of women who will lie to hurt their partner. It's common enough that I don't want to take someone's rights to own a gun over a he said she said case of DV. Clearly obvious cases of D.C. sure. I don't want people to lose their rights for pushing their wife after she throws a lamp at him.

It really is. Especially when you have individuals like the one who did those reprehensible acts Tuesday night.

Mobile was really hit hard by this. First time in six years we had an officer die in the line of duty. Just about everyone in the community was saddened by this. Wednesday night, the downtown skyline was lit up in blue and since then, the electronic billboards have had a tribute to Officer Billa. He’ll be laid to rest Tuesday. If I wasn’t working, I’d be on the side of the road on the route to his final resting place. I’m hoping many will be able to do that.
