Dangit I was wondering if he was pitching. I was on tv guide and it said Dodgers at Padres. I wanted to watch.

Oh well. At least we got Olivera.

FIP and xFIP at 3.30 and 3.17, very similar to his 2014 season.

At the same time we have to recognize that the FO has a yuge knowledge base that dwarfs anything that we fans work with.

I'm sure the folks that rushed to post about his rough starts earlier are eager to comment.

Avg velocity on his fastball is at 90.3 so far compared to 89.3 and 89.8 the previous two yeas. Will be interested to see if this drops over the course of the year.

Only the first month of a season is important

But Olivera is going to bring much needed power to this offense and hold down third for the next 5 years. I know this because the front office told us how they did their homework on Olivera and are certain he'll be a star.

Man Woody would have been a really good lefty option in a rotation that looks like it's gonna be righty dominant unless Newcomb ever figures out how to pitch.

I think we got decent value considering LA took on a lot of Olivera's contract but he sucks so it's moot. Essentially just donated one of our top prospects and a good lefty for broken elbow and domestic violence.

We better get the next Trout with the draft pick.

That's not shocking for Wood. We have seen it before. He has also really struggled before. I don't think he is this good obviously, nor is he Cole Hamels. Middling lefty starter ? Probably

Phils and Royals looking at Markakis, though both would want the Braves to send $ too.

    2. Jay Bruce, OF, Reds — Bruce remains a target for a few teams looking for a lefthanded bat, including the Royals. Bruce also makes sense in Anaheim. Teams such as the Royals and Phillies are also looking at Atlanta’s Nick Markakis, though the money is an issue there, especially with the Royals.

We have to make the pitch to the Reds that Neck could double, triple, maybe even quadruple his homerun total in a batters box like Cincy.

In a a bandbox park like Philadelphia or Cincy, Neck could be a legit 7-8 homer guy.

Yeah, Neck is the piece that's going to put the Phillies over the top in the NL East.

They're definitely not in the same league as Sid Bream or Kevin Bass though.

2.6 WAR in 2014 and 2015...on pace for about 3-3.5 this year. Not Cole Hamels. But not middling either.
