Newcomb will be throwing to a guy who went back to catching a few years ago. Going to be interesting.

Sometimes I hate it when I'm right like how this game played out, while Ozzie hitting second may not have been the single reason we lost the game it certainly didn't help. Donnie Baseball played it perfectly making Ozzie bat LH in the 9th before bringing Conley in. We had too many uncontrollable injuries happen but also had way too many LOB but Ozzie (who left 5 on base himself) has no business batting second even in the short-term, genius!

Bottom line is Snit thought he could get away with it in the short-term and it played a big factor in costing us the game.

The main thing here is hopefully the day off and almost breaking Romo's kneecap in his pinch-hitting appearance gets Josh going.

So Ozzie leaving 5 guys on base is the reason we lost. Nothing to do with Neck and Acuna leaving six each.

I never said it was the only reason we lost, I said / meant WE had way too many LOB. They all stunk evenly last night.

But why point out Ozzie then. It doesn’t make sense. It was a team wide fail. From LOB to calling a bunt with a guy on second and no out to Necks and Acuna’s double plays.

I'm not being a smart*** like someone else we know but because the whole conversation about Ozzie started before the game on page 1 and he has proven he has no business batting second against RHP.

What exactly are you looking for then?

Wright got through 6 innings with 77 pitches, only 1 walk, and got tagged for a couple HRs. He generated a lot of grounders, as I suggested his stuff would.

That’s pretty much what I expect a lot of Wright’s starts to look like as a solid 3 that borders on being a 2 at his peak.

    1 walk

That is very very important. Walks is what get our pitchers in trouble and then homering after that, he didn't. Scherzer gives up homers, deGrom gives up homers, that is baseball.

Yeah I thought Wright had an encouraging night. Outside of the homeruns he was very efficient and looked good to me. I've seen good things from many of our young starters early on this year. Really encouraging.

Thought there were a bunch of hangers and well struck balls. Again, just wanted to see what the data said. There wasn't a bunch of movement from what I saw.

And arguably our best young pitcher is just starting to get healthy.

Could very well be. The data after his first start wasn’t great. More #4 than #2/3.

I gave him a pass due to the conditions, and I don’t rely on the eye test when judging pitches.

Now with the statcast developments there is definitely a greater reliance on the data and its fun to read about.
