He was awfully sloppy in allowing himself to be compromised. Plus the whole lock her up thing is pretty pathetic. Usually presidential advisers in the national security field try to remain somewhat above the political fray. He and his son also seem to have bought into some pretty kooky conspiracy theories. And on top of that being a trumpophile, the ultimate in bad judgment and bad taste.

While I'm at it I would like to wish a guten tag to my trumpohilic friends, who have turned rather quiet in this thread.

Flynn really seems to be a ****heel—I think he thought he could stick it to the gang who pushed him out at DIA, be the power behind the throne, and make a quick buck all at the same time. I don’t think for a skinny second that he’s a real Trumpy type, just one of the collection of grifters who saw it as a score.

I do give him credit for one thing. During his brief tenure as NSD, Trump called him late one night and asked him if a strong dollar was a good or bad thing. And he replied why dont you go ask an economist.

So who were these "Russian students" that Peter W Smith raised 150K for? Enquiring minds want to know.

Just visiting history students, studying history—like the cathedral in Salisbury, maybe.

Good if slightly dated summary of how Manafartov fits into the picture with regards to collusion.

    https://www.justsecurity.org/57863/p...nce-collusion/

It seems to me there is an out here for Trump, which is to claim that Pavel did it. And I wonder why the Pavel-did-it claim has not been made. The answer most likely is fear of what Pavel might say if this claim is made. So while Pavel-did-it is a possible defense, it is likely to create more problems than it solves.

To my friend Hawk -- I am still uncertain whether "pleaded guilty" is preferable to "plead guilty" and why... guess I should just keep reading.

Below link is from The Guardian a publication you once advised was preferable on all things current events. Though some of us read these reports over two years ago when they were in fact, "current events"--- I digress
This "pleaded guilty" vs "plead guilty" thing is driving me crazy

Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to Congress about Trump’s plans to develop a building in Russia. He admitted the project continued well into Trump’s campaign for the presidency – contradicting Trump’s account – and that Cohen spoke with a Kremlin official about securing Russian government support.

On Friday Mueller disclosed that in November 2015, Cohen separately spoke with a Russian “who claimed to be a ‘trusted person’ in the Russian Federation” and offered Trump’s campaign “political synergy” and “synergy on a government level”.

The Russian repeatedly proposed a meeting between Trump and Putin, according to Mueller, and told Cohen the meeting “could have a ‘phenomenal’ impact ‘not only in political but in a business dimension as well’”, because there was “no bigger warranty in any project than consent of Putin”.

Conveniently left out of your summary was that Cohen did not pursue/accept the invitation.

    From the filing:

"Cohen, however, did not follow up on this invitation."
I wonder why you didn't include that detail. Seems like it's relevant to what you posted

Special Counsel Mueller released his heavily redacted 13-page sentencing memo for Michael Flynn on Tuesday night, he did NOT redact one key piece of information. The memo clearly states that the Trump transition team was heavily involved in Flynn’s illegal dealings with Russia.

And, as everyone now remembers, the person in charge of that transition team was none other than vice president-elect Mike Pence

the paragraph you referred to ----- you should read the rest of the paragraph ---

and let's be clear, it wasn't my summary it was a quoted report from The Guardian.

My summary --- you are funny -- as if I had access you didn't

My reading tells me that once Mueller has named Trump (and perhaps indicted Trump) Rudy Giuliani will be releasing an opposition report

As if a courtroom or House Impeachment proceedings aren't the venue for their "opposition report"
Unless of course, Trump is thinking to win the court of Fox News ??

And who is paying Rudy and how much ?

Is Rudy on government payroll ?

Per today’s filings, one of the things Manafort is newly in the soup for is lying about his contact with brother Konstantin.

Which fact at least gives the appearance of being less like corruption and more like espionage.

Let me say before reading, Mother Jones had the Russia connection in August 2016.
See Russian Roulette by David Corn and Michael Isikoff

Like the Steele Dossier --- it has all been proven right
