I agree with what seems like the predominate feeling. Great for Adam to want to hang with kid.. but you are not so special that you get to take him like he is attached. No, Ball players are not like other jobs.. but club houses and locker rooms are for players. Guys don't want to walk on egg shells or stress that there is a minor lurking around the corner. bring him with you on the road.. fine.. just arrange for someone to watch him while you work..
It's absolutely the team's right to set that limitation. There's nothing wrong with that. It's also absolutely Adam's right to walk away. Nothing wrong with that either. I think too much is made over this. It's simply a case where the conditions set by the employer were not ones that an employee wanted to work under so the employee quit. Yep, have to agree that it's a very odd assumption on Adam's part that he can impose his kid on everyone else in the locker room every day. This isn't a company softball league. It's a multi-billion dollar business. Regardless of how loved the kid might be to what sounds like the majority of guys in that clubhouse, it's simply not appropriate.
Saying that, seems apparent that Adam has been contemplating hanging it up for a while now. Last year had to have taken the enthusiasm out of his love for playing. Guess bringing the kid was the only thing getting him through the daily grind.
Apparently the team almost boycotted over Williams asking Laroche not to bring his kid every day. That's pretty interesting.
I guess it's a much bigger job than we expected.

And considering the money LaRoche has, the education that kid gets in the winter is probably better than the one most kids get who go to school far more often.

Hmmmm. If it was part of his contract, might they still have to pay at least part of his contract this year? I know we don't know what the specific language covers, but is it possible they are violating the contract in some way? Could get interesting.
I doubt it was in the actual contract. It was probably part of a handshake agreement. If it was part of the contract then the Whitesox would be in breach and would owe LaRoche at least a portion of his contract.
Also, Chris Sale reportedly told Williams to get out of the clubhouse and to stay out.

I think it's pretty damn silly.
Kids should be in school interacting with and learning from other kids as well as learning, you know, what's taught in school. You can't condense everything down to just learning in the winter.
There's a report out now that some players had complained about LaRoche bringing his kid in every day but the vast majority of players supported LaRoche.
Man, that team is a dumpster fire.
Now there's more time available to home school the kid.
