There is an argument against doing that. Service time. I know for a player like Peraza, his age 27 season is likely to be more productive than his age 21 season.

Question, were Smoltz, Avery, and Glavine's innings limited when they came up? I know it's said Avery's career fell off because of too many innings at a young age, but did he really pitch more than Glav or Smoltz?

Yes. Avery reached the majors at an earlier age. And Cox rode him pretty hard. Lots of high stress innings deep into games.

An MRI taken Wednesday on Manny Banuelos' left elbow showed a posterior bone spur.

The hope is that he will be able to pitch again this season, but there are no guarantees. Banuelos was placed on the disabled list earlier this week.

That actually sounds like good news.

Btw we do not have a surplus of starters. Most teams give 8 starters at least 10 starts in any given season. I want eight to start every season. Stash one or two in the pen and one or two in AAA. We do not have 8 major league ready starters going into 2016. Unless you count guys like Jenkins. Who imo has not really proven himself in AA or AAA. He did have a very nice start last night. If he does more of that the rest of this year, I'll be happy to add him to the list of major league ready starters for 2016.
I dont know if we should count Teheran anymore but I assume 2016 rotation would start out as Miller/Wood/Teheran/Wisler/Minor(Perez if Minor cant go) with Jenkins at AAA, Banuelos in the pen, and Folty at AAA or in the pen. Jenkins would be the third(or 4th if you count Minor) extra starter going into the year. He might not be ready now but you dont expect to use starter 9 early in the season. Between the end of this year and the beginning of next he could have a year at AAA before he makes his first MLB start next year. Thats 9 starters and we always seem to find a decent starter out of nowhere like Harang, Garcia, Sheets, Perez, and Beachy.

9 in you count Minor and Jenkins. 7 if you don't. I wouldn't count on either. I don't think we have a surplus.

Shut him down for the year. It appears that he has at least avoided this:
