Really wish I could hit fast forward on our young pitchers. I'm ready to see a quality team in Atlanta

Let's say allard finishes this year like he's been pitching lately. Is Carolina a forgone conclusion next season or is Mississippi a possibility?

I think he definitely starts at Carolina. No need to rush him up. If he maintains production, AA isn't a ridiculous idea by the end of the year.

I tend to agree. He's young. If he dominates at Carolina, then he could be promoted to Mississippi and be pretty much a step away from Atlanta, since many players go from AA to the bigs these days. With starting pitchers, it looks like a good idea to make sure they establish consistent excellence at a level before promotion, based on how some appear to struggle when rushed. You sure would hate to do anything that would stifle development. Even Allard struggled for a short time when he was first put in Rome. The second go round, he's done well.

If he finishes strong I see no reason for him to come back to Rome.

I was looking at game logs, and I found it interesting that Allard , when he pitches with Herbert (his HS catcher) he has pitched exceptional, the Rome games he pitched with Morales are really bad. Suppose that has anything to do with it?

Not much doubt in my mind Allard has more upside than any pitcher in our system. The only question is health.

The other thing is he has to build up his innings base.

It's more about building up his workload. He likely won't get to 100 IP this year. Next year they will try to get him around 140, probably in A+. Then they have to get him over 180+, probably 2018 in AA. He will likely be on a pretty strict innings limit in 2018, so I wouldn't expect more than a spot start here or there.

In spring training 2019 he could possibly be an option to win a rotation spot in his age 21 season. That's the best case scenario in my opinion.

What the Braves really need is for Newcomb to figure it out. He is wrapping up his age 23 season and doesn't look ready for the MLB level at all. The clock isn't ticking, but they are starting to wind it up.

Newcomb has shown flashes. If he can consistently begin to produce the results he has occasionally produced, he might get there quickly. The question is, will he? It has happened with plenty of young guys in the past, but fewer succeed than fail. Maybe he'll succeed.

It's like a broken record with the young pitchers. If he can harness his stuff he's gonna be good. If not he's not going to make it.

Swanson now hitting .255. Anyone worried? Maybe a little concerned? Our other 2 prospects there are hitting .341 (Albies) and .295 (Peterson). Both of those guys are younger than Swanson too.

I'm hoping it's fatigue. If it isn't then it is something to worry about.

Right now jace's ops (.755) at the MLB level is higher than swanson's (.747) at AA. Were we too quick to move Albies to 2b? Next year, our best MIF could've been Albies at SS and jace at 2b.

Hopefully Swanson is just fatigued and turns it on. I am a little concerned though TBH
