I don't know, but the Governor is also a graduate of the University of Florida.

Of course, we love Timmy. But as I was watching the workout, I couldn't help thinking, "holy ****, that's an NFL tight end right there."

His arm was stiff, every fly ball an adventure, he couldn't hit a curveball to save his life, but lord, have mercy, when Aardsma grooved an 85 mph fastball, I think he hit it 440 feet.

He would/should never play anything but Bat, but it might be fun to see if he could figure it out. We specialize in 30-year old reclamation projects, anyway. What's the harm? Maybe he could kick Kemp's ass into shape.

We're about to move into a new stadium. That the team is looking for ways to create buzz should surprise no one.

I won't melt down, but there will be a heavy sigh and a disapproving head shake.

We could always trade him and one of the 35 year old relief pitchers we will sign to the Padres or Diamondbacks.

Not a coincidence that the worst (or second worst) team in baseball wants him.

This power surge he showed at his workout....were there MLB pitchers throwing him curve balls? Fast balls that have movement? No? Then GTFO.

    just their dignity.

(And the ABs they waste on a 29 year old that hasn't played baseball in more than a decade).

Honestly though the worst part is what it suggests is motivating front office decision making. Not that this is a surprise, but hard to totally trust front office that would green light such a publicity stunt.

On the other hand, if they do this rather than overpay some crap free agents or trade the farm to go .500 then good?

Jim Varney (RIP) was the face of the franchise in 1990; this isn't quite that dignity shedding IMO (OTOH I liked those advertisements back then).

Just got a mental image of Tebow saying "Hey, Verne" while wearing Chief Knockahoma's outfit.

    Actually, yes.

He's not going to amount to anything, but yes, there were MLB pitchers throwing him breaking balls, changeups, etc.

This would be hilarious for me if he signed for the Braves. As a life long Broncos and Braves fan, I would burst out laughing.

The main pitcher throwing against him was former Brave David Aardsma.

Five clubs indicated interest after the workout, during which he flashed some power potential and decent speed, but struggled against live pitching and displayed a below-average throwing arm.

    lol

I'd say he's probably an extreme long-shot as far as potential to ever make the Majors and do anything there. But it sounds like Braves will probably sign him for the main reasons covered in that article.

"If we sign him,’’ Coppolella said, “its because we think he has a chance to help us at some point.’’

The value tebow adds is to some A ball affiliate in Florida who wants to sell some tickets. There's no MLB reason to sign him. Just sign him to put him in A ball and get a couple thousand extra bucks to the game.
