it reminds me a lot of some peak WCW midcard matches.
the way guys like Malenko and Regal used to work matches. It was very realistic looking. But Japanese style looks much crazier because of all the punches, knees, and kicks. Every time I watch Kenny Omega run full speed and knee someone into the face it looks so good. And like that’s a normal move in Japanese wrestling. But in general I just like how the storytelling is in matches to where it doesn’t look completely choreographed.
i think one of my worries about aew is they need to tone down the cirque de soleil ****. I don’t see that stuff in wrestle kingdom as much. Every Botchamania has AAA Mexico cirque de soleil **** gone terribly wrong. There just comes a time where doing 3 extra flips isn’t optimal in a match and looks completely choreographed. I don’t ever recall wcw’s cruiserweight division ever looking that choreographed and like 90% of those guys were luchadors.
