@Braves: The Braves have claimed RHP Pedro Beato off waivers from Cincinnati. He will join the club in Washington and will wear #51.

Why? And why we give him a spot on the 25-man roster?
He has only pitched 23 innings in the majors.
That last name is just low hanging fruit for GDTs.
Ivermectin Man
I heard that Pedro has a book of pithy sayings called The Beatotudes.
So we have Beato and we have Wood.

Would figure Butcher sent down.
They'll probably option Buchter, which is what they wanted to do in the first place. Beato? No idea what we're getting here; big guy who throws hard.
Beato was a pretty big prospect coming out of high school, as I recall. I have vague recollections of the Mets drafting him and then getting a lot of pressure from the commissioner's office not to go over-board with his contract.
That was a long freaking time ago, of course.
The Braves have a very good record of bringing in relievers off the scrap heap and turning them into a productive bullpen.
I'll trust them to do it again.

Any truth to the rumor that the Go-Gos will be performing a concert at the home opener now that "We Have the Beato?"
I thought Beato's number would either be 3/4 or 4/4.

His name is pronounces "be-ah-toe."
He was a good prospect for the orioles a few years ago.
