I need to vent on this Duck Dynasty "Controversy".

So Jesse Jackson is now demanding to meet with A&e and Cracker Barrel. I guess Jackson didn't see the backlash that Cracker Barrel received when they pulled Duck a Dynasty merchandise. I pray and hope somehow this blows up in Jackson's face like it did for Cracker Barrel

Jesse's got to be hungry for some really bad, bad, bad food. Oh, he wants to meet with Cracker Barrel and not at Cracker Barrel. That's different. Never mind.

Jackson is a relic of an older era. Black militancy is largely unnecessary now and that was the era he was from. I won't say totally unnecessary of course cause you never know when it will be needed again. But as it is the black community doesn't need Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton for the 21st century, they need a different brand of leader.

The problem with Jackson is that he's passe. He's not the hot commodity he was when being personal friends with the late Martin Luther King,Jr., had relevance to the public-at-large. About all most younger Americans know about Martin Luther King, Jr., is that it's a three-day weekend. He keeps saying stuff to keep Jesse Jackson, Inc., going, but no one is really buying.

I think the new brand of leaders are there, but they aren't as vital in the personal sense (they are vitally important, but they lack a certain vitality). They are more buttoned-down, but in their defense, it's harder to be vocal and capture the nation's imagination when you don't have easy targets like Bull Connor (example) around. There's still work to be done, but the targets are more subtle now and call for a different approach.

They have the otherwise good conservatives of this country so bamboozled they really believe the TEA party is made up of people who could really lead this country anywhere. I think it should be noted that he does not have a degree in journalism, literature, creative writing, OR philosophy, so the degree he does have has very little to do with his book (or his (in)ability to write one).
