    Proof? Or just opinion?

A / e was probably concerned, but to what degree is debatable .

    Hardly.

And it seems like reading is too much to ask of just about everyone nowadays.

Yes, there are 3 of them and we keep their arses locked up on reservations, since we can't put Native Americans there anymore.

Oh and before anyone says anything and I get taken off A&E too, I am a card carrying member of the Mississippi Choctaw tribe, though on some days they don't claim me either.

Hey Hawk, describe what you think a really good political party would look like - basic parameters on their economic, foreign affairs and social issues positions. I'd think it be neat to see exactly what you actually support. Would you paint that picture or us? I know the types you think are bad - would just like to get a better idea of what you are for - policy-political-strategy-wise.

I sometimes wonder the same thing Bedell. End of the day I see Hawk very pragmatic. That isn't a bad thing to my mind - some of the things he writes in support of are spoken by Rand Paul / Tom Cochran and next post he supports something Elizabeth Warren / Sherrod Brown has said.

    end of the day --
As long as he agrees with me --- is all that really matters :)

Wow, that shouldn't take long, huh????????

I'll jot down a few ideas tonight, but this will be a HUGE and ongoing thing if I'm ever able to get even close. You also know that what I"m putting down is more along the lines of ideas, of things I think should be done, rather than in a political party structure. If anyone wants to help me organize them feel free to do so.

You know that the kind of changes we need to make will likely never be made under our ever increasingly corrupt democracy, right??

Here are some of things I support. I've said most before but maybe if we all work on this we can actually create something of a decent political platform.

First let me say that extremes are what's killing this country. There's nothing wrong with begin a conservative or a liberal strictly speaking. I think the two groups can get along and actually learn from each other and hopefully balance each other out if they have to, right now they've both moved too far to the extremes.

No more outsourcing. Bring the jobs home. If you don't I'll tax your arse back to the stone age (no more Verizon with an $80B profit and zero taxes paid). Sweetheart deals for companies and people who hire Americans and pay them decent wages (and please, no extremist comments here). CEO salary and perks are frozen. The system they have concocted is run by them (most are either top officers at other interlocking companies or just hope to get to be in on the gravy train someday, it's an artificial system, there's no way a CEO here deserves 25X MORE than a CEO of other top companies around the world). If this offends them and they want to go to China and overdrive their companies to make the short term numbers look artificially good so they can get that sweet new contract, please do so. I"ll help you pack. So let's give the rich, big business, etc. an INCENTIVE to do the right thing again, right now they get richer by the day by doing whatever they please.

Regular folks, now that the jobs are coming back to the US, I expect you to get and keep one. In the words of Dennis Miller, "we should help the helpless, the clueless should be on their own". Learn or relearn the pride in a job well done and the self respect you get when you go and pick up a check that you've earned. So let's reintroduce the whole INCENTIVE thing to regular folks again. People need an incentive to do their best, does anyone think they typically have that now??

Everybody pays taxes, even if it's just a few dollars, and the wealthy who are hiding their money...well let's just say that isn't something I would put up with. Once we get spending under control and the debt paid off, or at least way down I'd start lowering taxes of all kinds on all Americans. First things first, we have to pay our debts, especially to countries who hate our guts and who would love nothing better than to use those debts against us.

I would find and imprison the ahole bankers whose greed caused the meltdown of 2008 and if anyone wants to go after the politicians who helped cause it or just ignored it that will be fine with me too, as long as your vengeance is non-partisan.

the Defense Contractors of this country will no longer be allowed to rape and pillage the treasury. Some sort of good but fair and reasonable pay structure will be adopted. No more $750 hammers and $500 toilet seats. Oh and any connection between anyone in the MIC and any member of Congress will NOT be tolerated. The NSA wants to spy on us let them spy on the right people for a change.

Foreign policy wise I'd reduce our presence to a calculated number of areas where we could get to a new brush fire if we had to but the days of being the world's policeman are over, unless the nations of the world want to start paying their share.

There, that ought to be enough to get me shot about 5000 times. You guys see what you can do with this stuff and we'll go from there. And for anyone who didn't already know why I would never run for office (nor live more than 24 hours after I got elected) well, now you know. :)

LOL, that's the bottom line isn't it???

My #1 thing is that I think things should be run the correct way and I just don't see that happening, I see Repubs looking the other way when their people violate the system and I see Dems doing the same when their people do it. I'm not sure pragmatic is how I would like to describe myself but I suppose in the end that's pretty close. I"ve love to be an idealist who reshapes this country back to how I believe the founding fathers wanted it to be, but at the end of the day I'd probably just do as many good things as I could and hopefully not get myself machine gunned while watching a movie.

In the world pre Gingrich Revolution / Contract with America you would have been mainstream. Today --- not so much.

Back then we all shared priorities that pointed towards the common good. At issue was the methods of getting there.

Today (post Contract w/America) those priorities have taken a decided right turn - and the issues of the common good getting there have become an afterthought.
    Why?
Because one "side" has decided that if they don't get everything they want no one gets anything.
Elections and the countries wishes be damned. Thus you now have an active Left Wing and an unwavering Right Wing.

    Origin ?
The Contract With America and the line in the sand it drew.
The Reagan Presidency's (Revolution) definition of what constitutes an American and not an American.

Take those historical events out and we have a totally different landscape where we'd be arguing over how we accomplish the things you pointed out (which are really mainstream) instead of whether they should or should not be priorities.
    ///
    edit:
Here's a little something I learned a long the way. The Founding Fathers intended nothing. They were winging it .
good lord -- I just invented a bumper sticker "The Founding Fathers were winging it"

I love how people say "liberal groupthink." Like there isn't conservative/christian "groupthink." I also hear on fox news "the liberal media" and them referring to mainstream media as "liberal." YOU'RE MEDIA, FOX NEWS. YOU'RE MEDIA.

The Mainstream media is liberal. The conservatives have talk radio and Fox News while the liberal viewpoints are spread on cnn, msnbc, and the major networks

I'm actually surprised no other news outlet hasn't tried being more conservative.

not being as far right and racist as fox news doesn't make them liberal. obviously there are some overly liberal ones. but fox news spews that everyone who isn't on "their side" is a liberal socialist. fox news is a huge joke.

    How is Fox News racist?

Well if you're media and you aren't on Fox News side aren't you by definition a liberal?

Must be a long and funny joke since they've led in ratings what 20 years in a row?

"Not racist, but #1 with racists."
No. Not having a conservative, paranoia-driven agenda does not make you liberal. Fox news is extreme and not being extreme doesn't make you liberal. Not agreeing with everything fox news doesn't make a station liberal. That's what they don't get. They loooove playing the victim card over there, and most of their viewers do, too.

Stupid **** gets ratings all the time. In fact, some of the dumbest things get the highest ratings. Fox news has old people that are loyal followers. Most libs I know are young and don't really watch TV news due to many factors. This doesn't negate that a lot of the pundits on fox news are hacks and jokes.

Some of the people on fox news don't even believe the dumb **** they say. They play their viewers like a fiddle. They get them all riled up an bothered about "the liberal socialists taking over america, trying to ruin your life and end christmas! trying to tell you you're not allowed to be religious! trying to tell you to give all your money to the poor (black) people in the ghettos! trying to force you to be *** and have *** sex! trying to make it OK to marry animals! trying to give all the immigrants yer jerbs!"

it's just fanaticism TV. it's like skip bayless saying crazy things on TV like tim tebow is a starting NFL QB. crazy = ratings.
