That's a joke and it shows that they're from the old days. It was hit hard. Hard hit balls are not always going to be snagged.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

You don't think he should've caught it?

boston manager wisely took their struggling pitcher out yesterday before we got to him, snit played with fire and we got burned again. May cost us a game in the standings

Newcomb should have been skipped this time. No sense in him facing the Red Sox with the way he’s struggling.

Well see I got back further than that...He should know where he is and therefore should not be starting anymore this season.

It was an easier play than the 2nd inning hard liner that he caught.

But this is an old school mentality. You cannot always rely on your defense to bail you out. Sometimes you need to do it yourself and make better pitches, get weaker contact.

Touki, Wright, and Wilson all have inning limits, and Wright/Wilson seem close to them (in fact, I think Wright is just 9-10 innings away supposedly which is why people were whining about him coming up). Can't just drop him from the rotation.

Better path would be to run away this offseason.

we cannot count on fatigued Freeman or struggling Markakis to make up for Acuna not hitting last few either

I'm not mad he didn't catch it. It was a challenging play, but certainly makable. If touki or one of the promising young guys were on the mound, everyone here would've been mad at Camargo. Newcomb is everyone's whipping boy right now... everyone gangs up in here on him and he's certainly struggling. Personally I think he's worth holding on to. I bet AA agrees. I'll bet anyone here he's on our opening day 2019 roster

Haven’t watched much of the game tonight. Have been watching local storm coverage as Tropical Storm Gordon is coming my way. But have to say......Geez, Newcombe

Newcomb was anything but good tonight, but it's 3-1 in the 6th. This game is being loss bc of offense

We have a lot of solid pitchers in the bullpen and we're running out Luke Jackson in a 2 run game. I hate Snitker.

Suzuki could maybe try to frame a pitch for a strike.

Snitker let Freddie and Markakis stop taking batting practice after the break. Their stats are way down since then. Coincidence? I think not.

I think a better idea would have been to have them take a day off here and there.
