Republicans really hated that the country loved a black president and really don't like brown people so they went the filibuster route

As if to reinforce that point, Mr. Trump aligned himself with Senator Chuck Schumer of New York and Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the Democratic leaders, in embracing legislation to authorize younger illegal immigrants to stay in the country. A day earlier, Mr. Trump had rescinded a program enacted by President Barack Obama protecting such immigrants on the grounds that it went beyond a president’s authority, but called on Congress to legalize the program.

“We had a very good meeting with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer,” Mr. Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to a speech on taxes in North Dakota, without mentioning that Mr. Ryan and Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican majority leader, had also attended. Regarding the immigration program, Mr. Trump said, “Chuck and Nancy would like to see something happen, and so do I.”

I'm really quite annoyed with how both sides are handling this. Republicans are in an uproar over not being able to tie a bunch of legislation to hurricane relief and Democrats are painting Trump as a terrible negotiator. Hurricane relief was funded, for ****'s sake.

he is, has been, a terrible negotiator.
and to his credit, he knows it.

On the stage of politics he leads with his chin
or in poker terms he telegraphs his bluffs.
    He makes rookie mistakes

He has learned both Ryan and O'Connell are nothing more than opposition leaders . The real power lies in "Speaker" Pelosi.
I wondered last night falling asleep his DACA stance was nothing more than that, a stance. And, like N Korea a bluff or just words thrown out there to gauge reaction.

The meeting where the deal was made, McConnell sat in -- not Ryan.

I hope I live long enough to read what really has happened the past few months
    ..................

One more thing -- I think Pelosi starts drooling every time talk of the wall comes up.
As policy wise wrong a 30' tall 3000 mile long wall is ---------- politics wise it has been a gazillion times more problematic
He is stuck with it. Even the brand "the wall not a fence "
Pelosi got him by the balls cause, she is the star in the room

In politics stardom is based on how many votes you bring with you

Trump may have hit on an insight: If Republican voters will like him no matter what, he can become popular by doing whatever Democrats want.

Isn't that what 1990's Clintonistas called
    "triangulation " ???

First off you are incredibly racist if you think Republicans only hate Obama because he is black. If you have a D next to your name you are literally Satan regardless of race religion, or anything else.

They hate Obama because he is black. They hate Hillary because she is a woman. That's why they treated Bill Clinton great and speak so positively of Jimmy Carter. If you want to see hate look at how democrats treat black who are not democrats.

Remember that time the media said Ron Paul can't beat Obama if he won the nomination because he wouldn't get the support of the Republican base. A guy who is a strong christian, war veteran, long term senator, godfather of the tea party, never voted for an unbalanced budget, and ANTI war. All that and they said he isn't even worth covering. These same people who treat Sarah Palin as a serious candidate. It all comes down to Ron being ANTI war and the mwdia/establishment will never let a real ANTI war candidate any media coverage.

i see a talking point i have heard in this thread is without fact/basis it seems

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said DACA has "denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same illegal aliens to take those jobs." A top economist says there's no evidence of that.

FACT CHECK: Are DACA Recipients Stealing Jobs Away From Other Americans?

    I love this:

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...stmas-showdown

President Donald Trump’s unexpected decision to spurn his Republican allies in Congress by striking a short-term debt-limit deal with Democrats leaves the GOP reeling and lawmakers bracing for a bruising battle in December.
    ....
The episode provided the latest illustration of the bind Republicans find themselves in. Even though they control the White House and both chambers of Congress, they’ve been unable to set aside their own differences to get much done. Instead, this latest deal may have simply handed Democrats the upper hand heading into a confrontational end-of-the-year negotiation.
    .....
Longer-term Treasuries also declined, suggesting investors saw better prospects that lawmakers will act on measures to spur economic growth.

“The market is pricing in less gridlock in Washington,” said Alex Li, head of rates strategy at Credit Agricole. “The market seems to be suggesting that the administration and congressional leaders are more open now to get something done in terms of the legislative agenda,” including addressing the nation’s tax system.
    .....
“The president can speak for himself,” McConnell told reporters. “But his feeling was that we needed to come together, to not create a picture of divisiveness at a time of genuine national crisis.”

The Don is getting sick of Ryan and McConnell not delivering and decided to give them a kick in the pants. Crap or get off the pot guys.

What more is there to say? He said a major US city being destroyed would be great for the economy. He probably isnt wrong about that.
