I'm just stunned at how good Trey Harris has been. He's fun to follow.

    Wrap-up from the evening games.

Rainout in Gwinnett, so there will be a double-dip today at Coolray (I knew a guy named Ray and he wasn't cool) today.

    Now onto the scores.

Bradenton returns the favor from the previous day by sweeping the Fire Frogs 4-1 and 5-1. Game 1 featured some odd managing, as Fire Frogs' manager Barrett Kleinknecht (Kleinknecht translates to "little servant" from German-to-English) allowed Odalvi Javier to throw 104 pitches. He pitched well up until the 7th when he wore down and was stung by a lead-off HR and then allowed the next three hitters to reach (one was thrown out trying to go from first to third). Daysbel Hernandez allowed two inherited baserunners to score, one on a wild pitch and the other on an error by Josephina. Hernandez did strike out two guys. Fire Frogs had six hits, two from Delgado. Garrison Schwartz drove in Kevin Josephina for the only Fire Frogs' run.

Game 2 saw Bradenton put up all of their runs in a 5-run third inning against Walter Borkovich, 4 of which came on a grand slam by Mason Martin. Borkovich did strike out 7 with no walks in his 5 innings. Troy Bacon struck out 4 in his two innings of work while giving up three hits. Fire Frogs managed only four hits, with their only run generated by a Brett Langhorne sacrifice fly that plated Zack Soria.

Rome goes down 7-3 to Asheville. Asheville was playing at home, so I don't get how they can be called the Tourists for half the games. Big news for the R-Braves is the continued hitting of Bryce Ball, who went 3-4, all singles. Langeliers and Harris with the RBIs. Langeliers has 32 RBI with 35 hits, which is kind of an odd statistical ratio. Jose Montilla gets cuffed around for 8 hits and 5 runs in 3 and two-thirds innings in relief of William Woods, who struck out 5 in his three innings of work. I've read some good reports on Woods, but his walk rate is pretty high. Thus far in Rome, he has walked 23 while giving up 26 hits (.194 BAA) in 38 IP. He has struck out 44. 23rd-round draft pick out of Dyersburg (TN) CC in 2018.

Danville falls again, losing 4-3 to the Kingsport Mets. D-Braves out-hit the Mets 10-to-8 but were undone by the unearned runs gifted to the Mets. Beau Philip went 3-5 with an HR and Connor Blair went 1-3 with an HR. Philip's performance draws him ever closer to the Melvin Mendoza line as his BA increases to .188. The Braves also got two hits from 2019 free agent signing Garrett Saunders from Central College in Pella, Iowa, where the headquarters for Pella Windows is based. Darius Vines started for the Braves and cruised through the first two innings, but ran into trouble in the 3rd when he gave up two runs. Zach Daniels gets hung with the loss, giving up one of the unearned runs in the 4th.

We'll see how long it lasts.

Maintaining this type of hot streak is unsustainable. Enscheff will be the first to tell you he called this hot streak and can tell you when the regression will begin.

What fun would that be? This way I get to dust off my old school rhetoric from when I was sports editor of my college newspaper in 1972 and 1973.
