Except they aren't. Heyward, Gattis, and La Stella are not bad hitters. Simmons, Johnson, and BJ are just that bad on their own to drag the offense down. Gattis has a wrc+ of 136, Heyward at 110, and La Stella at 99. By my counts that's one really good hitter, an above average hitter, and another who is essentially league average. It's just the other 3 (plus Uggla who played half the year) were that horrible. Don't try and get cute when you get called out on your stupidity.

Good to see Road Splits have a big game outside of Turner Field.

I actually think the opposite. The fact that Upton is such a great hitter while not being the greatest athlete makes me more inclined to keep him. Guys like him just know how to hit, which is why guys like Manny, Thome, Frank Thomas, Piazza, Ortiz, Giambi, etc all stayed relatively productive (offensively speaking) late into their careers despite not being all that athletic.

I agree. He's got several years before his offense is likely to decline. He'll lose a step in the field—which will bump him from "slightly below average" to "defensive liability," but I don't think we need to start talking about an offensive decline anytime soon. He's just shy of 27.

Its really about the batting order if you ask me. putting BJ in the leadoff spot was an unmitigated disaster. I think the tone is set for the whole game when he starts off with a horrible AB. Now you have a dangerous hitter there and it changes things.
It sure does help also that Justin is hitting absolutely everything.

Again, gentlemen, stop feeding the troll.
Oh great. Now he's not even consistent at being inconsistent.
