Just to compare to the Braves. I don't know if the Padres have been awful, but they have been bad overall. Both teams have made the playoffs and have stunk it up. I know Atlanta hasn't won a series since 01 or 02. I don't believe San Diego has won a series in the last ten seasons either.

    2005:
Braves and Padres made the playoffs

    2006:
    79 wins and Padres playoffs

    2007:
84 wins and 89 for Padres

    2008:
    72 and 63 wins

    2009:
    86 and 75 wins

    2010:
91 games and a playoff and 90 games won for Padres

    2011:
    89 wins and 71 wins

    2012:
94 wins and a fake playoff game loss and 76 wins

    2013:
96 wins and a rape in the playoffs and 76 wins

    2014:
    79 and 77 wins

    2015:
    67 and 74 wins

If I am the Dodgers I am excited about Wood as his velocity is back, he was mostly 92 mph with his sinker today. He has hit 93 mph no problem and even 95 mph his last Spring start. This time last year he was sitting 88-89 mph more often than not. If Wood has back his velocity again he'll eventually dominate again just like the year before last.

Kyle Schrawber and Dexter Fowler with a collision in the outfield. Schwarber got the worst of it.

Carpenter and Outman go from MLB players to signing in Ind. leagues in one season due to shoulder injuries. MLBTR: "Former big league relievers Josh Outman, Josh Zeid, Eric Fornataro, and Nick Greenwood have signed deals with the Atlantic League’s New Britain Bees, according to team press release (h/t to Chris Cotillo of SB Nation, on Twitter). Outman, 31, has had some productive years as a lefty specialist but never got a shot in the majors last year while dealing with shoulder troubles."

"Veteran righty David Carpenter has signed with the Bridgeport Bluefish, the club announced. He had shoulder issues in 2015 and only managed 24 1/3 innings with the Yankees and Naionals. The 30-year-old has some impressive MLB work under his belt, but his strikeout rate plummeted last year after sitting at better than one per inning. He was released by both the Rays and Braves this spring."

deGrome removed today because of Right Lat tightness... never a good thing for a pitcher to have tightness in his shoulder. hoping he is okay.

Schwarber going to the DL, no official announcement on the severity of his injury. Sounds like it could be a knee issue as opposed to an ankle injury...

Side note, Brad Hand goes to the Padres

Padres had a need for lefty. So no surprise they claimed Hand.

I believe we are ahead of them in the claiming order so we must have passed. I think the FO likes the chemistry of this team and doesn't want to do anything that might disrupt it.

Apparently Schwarber is done for the year. Torn knee ligaments.

If Soler craps the bed maybe we can deal Markakis to CHC midseason.

Yeah, also resigning Fowler looks key.

They'd probably be more interested in Inciarte then Markakis. Although if Soler is terrible they could still play Javier Baez instead. If Baez struggles they could shift Bryant or Zobrist to LF and start La Stella, or bring up Almora for CF. They have some options.

I don't think there's much hope in Markakis outperforming Soler

Nick will be better than replacement level, which is what Soler was last year. Granted I don't think Soler is that bad again, but it's definitely possible.

So, Dodgers pitcher Ross Stripling making his M.L. debut, pitching a no-hitter through 7.1 IP. He's a couple years removed from Tommy John Surgery, so Dave Roberts pulls him after exactly 100 pitches. What happens next? Reliever Chris Hatcher gives up a two run homer to tie the game.

Well this free trial of MLB extra innings is almost up. Back to very few games a week for me again. A lot of Twins games I suppose.

How can he dominate again when he's never been dominant before? Hey, I've got nothing against Wood, but I think some folks seriously over-estimate his ceiling.

Wood was quite dominate as a starter in 2014 and plenty around MLB saw it that way going into last year before his velocity fell off 2 mph or so, etc.

I see our old friend Cory Gearrin made the Giants roster. I think he'll do well with a manager like Bochy who knows how to handle a pen.

He was never what I would call dominant. I will grant that he has pitched well at junctures, but I don't think he's a TOR guy and that is what I think of when I think of dominant.
