It happens sure, but it doesnt happen often and i wouldnt rely on building a baseball team that way.

Brewers claimed Vogt off waivers, Braves should have taken a shot on him.

And I would rather build a team around young position players than young pitchers. Your likely best case scenario if everything comes together is what the Mets had for a year or two.

Mallex Smith has a 145 WRC+. Seems like we should have kept him as a corner OF. Oh well.

True, not like the Braves have no positional talent.

Inciarte, Freeman, Swanson, Albies, Acuna isnt a bad base to build around. Need a couple more pieces.

We're not in a bad place by any means.

    Sweet .433 BABIP.

Having said that, hope Gohara is actually healthy.

Career 340 BABIP. That's sustainable right?

Would have been nice to have Mallex stashed in AAA as the main piece in a Longoria trade this offseason.

.340, yeah. Thought you were just talking about this year, which is a very small sample (though I believe Mallex is much better than Markakis, even for our team concept).

I love Mallex but he's not a great fit for the Braves. We would have zero pop from the outfield if he was still with the Braves.

Mallex has only 95 games in the majors so obviously we are dealing with small samples. But in those 95 games he's produced 1.2 fWAR and 1.5 bWAR. IMO He's a ~2 WAR outfielder. Sadly we should have given him the time to prove himself as one and then traded him for a relative haul.

But our overall offensive output would be better if he had replaced Markakis.

Well having Markakis in the lineup everyday isn't providing much pop either.

I dunno, but I feel like Gohara was a really good haul. Kid has been really impressive so far, one of the bright spots of our minor leaguers this year.

It doesn't make any sense to have Mallex on the 2019 team. Iciarte, Acuna and Mallex aren't the bash brothers

I would take average to plus hitters that play good defense over 'bashers' who are horrible on defense

Gohara has a chance. I just feel Mallex would of had more value had he been given a chance to establish himself as an average player at the big league level.

So would I but you need some power in the lineup. A lineup of Swanson, Mallex, Acuna, Albies, And Inciarte is pretty weak with power

Again if they are overall good players it would be fine. 2014 Royals ranked last in power, 21st in offense, 4th in defense and 11th overall in WAR.

Obviously power helps a lot but I look more for whoever brings a better overall package.
