Colon's next scheduled start would be Saturday against the Mets. I believe we have a doubleheader that day.

Well, Sims got shelled after a terrific start last night, so he's not much of an option right now. I'm guessing medlen comes up early and joins the rotation. Colon has to be moved to the BP at the very least
Yet still did much better than Colon 😂. Sims could be a great trade peice either way. Someone skinny on pitching, would easily take a chance on him. It's nice that he's just a "bonus" guy for us.
Just let sims newk and Weigel simmer in AAA for the next few months. They don't need to see the big team until September call ups. Colon to pen for about a month and then cut ties. Use wizard and flair for starts until they get dfa'd or prove something. Have Meds in the hole in case you need him.
The question is will meds for colon make the team better.

You have to keep in mind that John Hart has known Colon for a very long time. Hart is a great judge of people and players. Plus he has been a terrific mentor to Coppy. He knows what Colon is capable of. What kind of person he is. The impact he can have on a young ball club. All the young pitchers and players on the team have already benefited yugely from watching Colon and emulating him. And they will be able to learn a lot more from him in coming months. I trust Hart's judgment in this matter.
The latest blurb I've seen on SIms came from BP yesterday. It appears he just isn't very good, no matter what posi-Braves want to fantasize about:
"Sims can have some success with this new fastball (90-91 2-seamer) when located, and the curveball is plus, but there’s too many concerns for me to project Sims as a future starter. His arm action is short and stiff with a violent finish, the main culprit of his inconsistent command. His changeup showed average fade, but was used infrequently and not located well, projecting as below average. Sims’ appeal as a leverage pen arm was greater when his FB was in the mid-90s with a swing-and-miss curve as his out pitch. As is, the realistic future role is middle relief."
Sort of interesting. The two Seamer seems to be reaction to the straightness of his big fastball. He's still got the heat in his back pocket if he needs it.
Not sure what the last starts have looked like but he hadn't been hittable to that point.
I think middle relief is a tad pessimistic for his peripherals but it's certainly possible outcome.
