Colorado just needs to turn into a softball team again. They were one in the Larry Walker, Ellis Burks, Vinny Castilla days and weren't bad.

Withou looking at his contract, we should look at Brett Anderson

We've heard some names of lefty relievers that the Braves are looking at. The SPs available are pretty well known. Does anyone know or care to speculate about what kind of bench bats we may be looking at?

No idea who if anyone the Braves have been looking at for the bench. Don't really know what names are out there either. I think it's far-fetched at best that the Braves are able to add a bench piece, lefty reliever, and a starting pitcher though. My guess is a lefty reliever and that's all.

Just took a look at the standings. Tampa Bay is only six out of the Wild Card in the A.L. Unless they really hit the skids the next eight days, they are not trading David Price.

If the Blue Jays were further out of it, I'd love to go after Colby Rasmus as a sort of platoon partner with BJ.

Other bench names we should (but probably won't) go after:

    Eric Chavez
Emilio Bonaficio (hey he's better than Schafer or Pastornicky)
    Chris Denorfia

I would add Justin Ruggiano of the Cubs to that list as well.

Chavez is on the 60 day DL with a knee injury. Considering retirement.

Its not going to be easy to find help for the bench. Bonaficio would be great. I also like Sean Rodriguez from the Rays as an option.

Was gonna say something about this.

9 out in the loss-column, logic says they should trade Price as long as the offer is fair.

    But a very winnable division.

They should either trade Price or go out and get someone. The division is so meh they could get someone if they make a move for some offense. If they don't trade for a good offensive player though then they should trade Price.
    thank you weso1!

I think Tampa Bay is a legit good team. They were my AL East pick to begin the year, and were just playing so poorly. Longo hasn't been going at all and all season. Myers is hurt and wasn't hitting. They could be a lot better, and they've hit a stride. Just can't have a really bad streak at any point.

Good move for them. Nathan has been terrible this season. Assuming Soria gets a chance to close.

The fact that they were the worst team in baseball record wise weeks ago and now are in the middle of a division race speaks volumes...probably a little credit to the division being very average, but most credit goes to the Rays.

I don't know, the AL East isn't really strong but it's pretty deep.
I hope they make it back, it'd be crazy.

This is going to be a difficult trade deadline for Wren. The 2 injuries starting off the year are starting to show their faces again. Harang and Santana have done a great job for us to this point. But with being a little over budget, I wonder if Frank will be allowed to go out and make an impact move at this point.

And keep in mind Venters still has not pitched this year, he may not come back at all this year.
