You mean you wouldn't leave all that money on the table, just to prove some esoteric point?

Neither would I by the way? ;)

meh, depends how he managed his money he has made. Smartest thing a player can do is make their money and get out quick.

I applaud him for making a stand and sticking to it. He's earned a new contract. This "franchise tag" BS is ridiculous. Pay the man what he's due or let him go find a team willing to pay it.

James Conner is glad he made a stand too. He could have made 15+ million this year.

And he could have given up twice that much or more if he tore his ACL. Bet ya Earl Thomas wishes he didn't end his hold out. He probably lost minimum 20 million with that leg injury.

Not really, the offer from pitt had 30 mill gtd I believe after this season. So, I'm not sure he would have given up twice that especially if hes still with the team and productive.

Now, teams likely see him as less valuable because James Conner came in and didn't miss a beat.

Only 10 million of that reported offer was guaranteed.

    Lol

This is the kind of logic that the corporate elite love. Bell is the athlete on the field producing the product. How many thousands of Bell Jerseys have been sold? How many butts has he been responsible for getting to the game? He's a running back who traditionally have some of the shortest careers in the NFL. He's putting his livelihood on the line as his future health is at risk every time he takes a hit. He's the villain for wanting a few million more, not the Steelers ownership who's revenue is 415 million dollars, their salary cap is 161M. You do the math here. Why shouldn't the players want a healthier take? THey're the ones with their asses on the line. Not anyone in the FO or coaching staff. They're the ones who'll likely end up with CTE and die young.

If you actually had a shred of human decency you'd realize how ****ed the NFL is to it's players, the ones who bring in the fans, who sell the jerseys, who do everything.

Nobody forced him or anyone to have this as their career so save that talk about his livelihood. People have jobs that have much higher risk of losing a life, limb, or eyesight, but yet they trot out everyday. I don’t see people complaining that armed forces or first responders need to get more money. He plays a game for crying out loud. Not too mention he has some rap skills that he fallback on if this football thing doesn’t pan out.

Correct he plays a game that generates billions upon billions of dollars. In 2017 the NFL's revenue sharing was 8 BILLION dollars.

The army should be paid more, I'd much rather have the money made in the military industrial complex made by the troops instead of by the executives of Lockheed Martin.

If soldiers refused to go to war to support the machine that makes Lockheed Martin, Boeing, etc. billions to get a reasonable wage increase then hell yeah, good on them.

But we have a direct correlation of someone who doesn't want to put his life and well being at risk to make a contract that's no guaranteed. If he took a crushing injury, he would be losing millions of dollars.

Zeet, isn't this where that whole "skill set" and "supply and demand" and "not just everybody can do this job" argument often get mentioned by some?

Only when it involves CEOs that bankrupt companies and get billions to do it.

Been brewing for awhile now, but things have to change in Green Bay. Rodgers not happy with McCarthy. Have to believe barring a magical end to this season that the Packers are getting a new HC next season.

Play calling has been terrible. His lack of emphasis to get Jones involved earlier in the season was a huge question mark.

In that last game, it was obvious they weren't going to give him 3-4 seconds to get the ball out and he was still calling play action deep passes and pass plays that were 5 step drops, etc...

A bit of a tangent here, but honestly, I'd love for first responders to get paid more. The problem is the vast majority of them are already getting paid what they are worth. Literally anyone can be a first responder. It takes no special skill set, only being able to pass written and/or physical tests. Some require a technical degree and some don't. If we, as a society, put higher requirements on what it takes to be a first responder, we could employ first responders that were highly qualified, and therefore deserving of higher pay.

    End rant.

Also, your point is beyond terrible. So you're saying all employers should just pay employees what they think is fair, and we should all just accept it and be ok with it? Because you've basically just described communism.

Bell has a special skill set that the free market has deemed to be extremely valuable. He should absolutely be trying to get what the market dictates he should be paid.

Thought it was exciting, but very poor football overall. The league has gone soft and all these rules are in place to enhance offense. Rules are put in place for two reasons: player safety and having a balance between offense and defense. The NFL is so far away from balance on both sides of the ball. It’s only this way to promote offense which gets more eyes on the game.
