We heard JJ was close....then nothing.

Nothing on Markakis.....we're going to keep him.

Frenchy needs to go. But Coppy won't trade him.

I know...but nobody seems to want him. Aybar too. Same problem. Except Aybar is gone after this year.

I don't see why anyone would want to take on Markakis... he's not a good player and is signed for 2 more years

Frenchy for a top 10 prospect thing is crazy. Unless it's an Angles top 10 guy.

If we get a top 30 guy for Frenchy I'd be very happy. And we can sign him again. Although I don't know where he plays unless we can unload Markakis.

I agree on his defense, but have you seen Markakis' recent stats? Dude has been really solid and his hitting with RISP has been more than solid.

Basically everything points to a below average hitter.

    .714 OPS
    95 OPS+
    95 wRC+

Add that with his defense and contract and it's ugly

I could see him being moved in a deal for McCann. Markakis would probably have better power numbers in that park.
    thank you weso1!

I could see the Neck going to a Boston if they have an injured outfielder or something. Not sure a mid market team will go looking for him. Either way, it would be a cheap return, but would free up money.

He could pull 9 homers a year!

For Markakis' power numbers to go up... he needs to go to a big spacious park where more of hits will find gaps.

I don't think he's going to hit homers anywhere

Given the way he's pitched lately, I have to believe there is some kind of market for Johnson.

I'd imagine there is limited interest in either Markakis or Francoeur, but there could be a situation where either of them are viewed as the last piece on the bench for a playoff team. As weso1 said, both of these guys should clear waivers and I wouldn't be surprised if either are dealt after the August 1 deadline. The first deadline seems to be more about big pieces.

What do yall expect to happen around baseball today??

    1. Bruce to NYM
    2. Lucroy to TEX
    3. Cozart to SEA
    4. Beltran will move
    5. LAD gets a SP (hope it's JT)
    6. sale doesn't move
    7. Moore to SF

What do yall expect the Braves to do?

    1. Trade JJ

I don't think we do anything else. Although I think Garcia, Beckham, Frenchy, Krol, Cervenka should all be on the move. Would love to find a taker for Aybar and markakis, but that's not happening. And I'm in the trade Teheran camp, but that appears unlikely too.

Markakis is perfect August trade bait. The market is much thinner and teams can convince themselves that a veteran lefty bat like Markakis might put them over the hump.

Which contenders need a below average right field bat?

    My prediction for today are....

    1. Acquiring McCann and cash for Ian Krol, Jim Johnson and a low level pitching prospect. The Yankees seem to want to try and win now although trading Miller and Chapman. Krol and JJ will allow them to do so.

I think thats all we do today. We will be more active come August waiver deadline.

is mccann good? I don't know. It would have to be a lot of cash.

I don't want to give up the first pick in the second round either. But we have to get some plus hitting at some spots. I guess 750 OPS is better than avg for catcher.

I think the Cubs are looking for a lefty hitting outfielder to pair with Soler.
